does anyone know what the mopar part numbers are for the "speaker bezel plastic piece and inner mounting bracket"???

Yeah i was thinking about puting some good ol 6x9s back there. Because i dont have the audio package. but i really dont know what is under that pice of plastic. Or if i have enuff space there to try to Macgyver someting up there. but yeah we will see.
So i need a little Q&A now. how in the world do your wire up the tailgate fold down speakers if you want to do the install your self?
Or are the wires there waiting for the install?

Sorry in advance if this questions sucks. I just replaced the 6X9's in my '08 Sport. I upgraded my HU which has 4 RCA outs. i now want to amp the speakers. Can I just run 4 RCA's out from the HU to the amp and a power and ground cable? I don't need to tap into the speaker wire also do I?

After 3 months, I finally got everything I needed to finish the flip down tailgate speakers on my sport. I wanted a black, limited 4x4 patriot but when I wanted it, there was none in CA so I got the sport and decided to build my own my way.
I got the actual flip down speaker bar off ebay for about $100 from a wrecked compass, I got the speaker bezel plastic piece and inner mounting bracket both from mopar for about $100 each for a total of about $300 for the project. To get the 2 extra channels for the flip downs, I just ran an extra set of speaker wires from the rear channels of my 4 channel amp for my mids and highs. All the 3 parts fit perfect but it didnt come in black so that'll have to be another post and another day. Hit me up if anyone has any questions on it. The speakers sound okay but I gotta give credit to what "MCJ197731" did and put some new 6"s in with tweets soon. Bust out the barbeques and tall cans, its time for a tailgate

I realize this is an old post, but I have a question if you are still monitoring it... Where is the amp located that you tapped into for adding the rear channels for the flip down? I don't know much about this stuff, can't I just tap into the rear door speakers wires? Thanks!

If you do not have an amp, you can tap into your rear speakers, but realize this will raise the ohm resistance thus causing them to be slightly quiter, but not really enough to worry about After you mess with the fader.

Actually this is not entirely true. If you wire the speakers in parallel you would actually drop the impedance in most cases. And, without realizing it that is the most common way that poeple piggy back speakers into an audio system.

And (the above is true!) by reducing the impedance, you can sometimes garner more power from the amplifier. Look at the specs--for example: at 4 ohms, 100 watts; at 2 ohms (which would be two-four ohm speakers in parallel) the output could be 150 watts. These are just "guestimates" as nearly all amps have different operating profiles. Placing speakers in series, which I'd never recommend...) is a way to increase the impedance to better match sets of speakers. Bear in mind, that if one speaker "burns out" the other won't work due to lack of a continuous circuit.

Good luck, tho!

what year is your jeep?

I bought the flip down speakers for my 2012 Patriot Sport, took it down to the local CarToys Audios store and them install a compact amp (Alpine KTP-445U, 4-channel) behind my dash for the rear speakers to run from and then they wired them up from the dash back, this way I wasn't pulling from the rear speakers. Turned out amazing and sounds clear even at high volumes. I hope that helped some. Good luck with yours!

Check online or local junk yard, I got mine from a junk yard for less that 50 along with side speaker in cargo area. Could get the factory amp and wiring since someone had already taken the navigation system and messed with the wires. Also got the panel for liftgate.
