20 months and 36,000 trouble free miles in my 07 FDI 5speed. I do all of my own maintenance of course. More reliable than my old HHR (shop serviced), newer Saturn Outlook (recalls galore), and Harley Sportster Custom ( bad voltage regulator/ electrical system shorts). My Patriot in my experience has been the exception to the norm.

Updated results recently posted. Jeep Patriot and Compass reliability, in terms of successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year:

2007: 55, about average

2008: 72, about average

Additional participants would be helpful, especially for the new 2009. The larger the sample size, the more information we can provide.

This is a really great site and I used it extensively to research other SUV's before I decided on the Patriot. Thanks for the link, I joined!

You're certainly welcome. The more participants we have, the more we can do--and the more we will do.

Diesels are welcome to participate in the main reliability survey. For the others I'm afraid they'll have to wait until I get more non-US powertrains into the database.

This month's survey is the last before the February results. Sample sizes have been around the minimum, so additional participants would be very helpful.

We have updated results for the Jeep Patriot. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2007: 51, about average

2008: 52, about average

Note that, now that we have decent (though still far from large) sample sizes for both years, the results are virtually identical.

A big thanks to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in May, August, and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years, including the 2009. Especially need more 2009s.

We now have a separate results page for each model that includes the results for competitors. The page for the Jeep Patriot:

My patriot has 19,000 miles on it. Have been beating the crap out of it on 3 trail rides so far, and use it to tow boats and campers frequently. No problems. Everything seems to be running as good as the first day I had it.... better perhaps because of the K&N air filter.

(Knock on wood)

My cars still new. I barely have 4,000 miles on it. Recently took it on a trip to Los Angeles from Tucson. Drove average 85 mph most of the way. There were times where I was fighting the wind at slower speeds (75mph). This was in 98+ degree weather going to mid 70's and the engine did great. Change oil message came on on the first leg about halfway up at 2,800 miles. Took it into Chrysler when I got back to have the oil changed and they said everything checked out.

Complaints: Right off the bat my luggage rack had a piece popped up, my passenger chair squeaks when I go over bumpy trails, and my alignment was off 2 days after driving it off the lot. Took it in to have it realigned but it really did not fix the problem. My brakes squeak horribly when I do soft braking at slow speeds. Had Chrysler change everything but it still happens. Disappointed in the assembly but it was expected going in.
