I wanted to see how people have been mounting their license plates on the front of the Patriot...directly to the bumper...some sort of bracket...?
To the bumper here. The dealership put mine on.I wanted to see how people have been mounting their license plates on the front of the Patriot...directly to the bumper...some sort of bracket...?
There where two little bolt thingies already there on mine, they blended in. My plates came in and they just attatched them on.OH man, what a sore spot for me, I am in South Carolina, bought my Patriot over the phone in Manassa, VA. Went to get it 2 weeks ago and they had screwed a plate through the bumper (with one of their advertisement frames).
WE DON'T HAVE FRONT PLATES IN SC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So now gotta find sometihing to put on front cause ugly holes are there!!!!!!
Never even thought about it till i was up there.

Lucky you. I hate that some states (including Washington) require front license plates; it ruins the look of many vehicles. I think the rear plate is sufficient; requiring a front plate is just another unnecessary gov't intrusion into our lives....WE DON'T HAVE FRONT PLATES IN SC!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Im all for front plates. We have them in our state. I like the fact if my child ever gets snatched and taken our billbords flash the car and license plate info. Having two means more odds my child will be found. Same with a stolen car. What if someone hits a runs? Someone from the other side of the road may be able to get the plate number. So what if your car doesnt look as cool there are so many pro's to having a front plate. I would pay extra for two plates even if it wasnt the law in my state.Lucky you. I agree with all your points, but those are all once-in-a-lifetime events, whereas the modifcation I must make is ongoing. Your arguments are valid; I just don't think they meet the "reasonable accomodation" threshold. Just my opinion... Your opinion is cool, too....if my child ever gets snatched and taken our billbords flash the car and license plate info. Having two means more odds my child will be found. Same with a stolen car. There are two little dimples in the front bumper, the screws go directly into the bumper. Origionally ships with two screws for the front bumper in one bag, in a second little bag two for the rear and two little self adhesive foam squares for the rear to keep it from rattling. No need to drill if using the factory screws, they will screw right in but use a 3/8 or 10mm nutdriver bit with a screw gun, not a slotted screwdriver bit or you will slip. The Caliber ships with a front bracket, the Compass and Patriot dont use one. There are two small marks that I was told I needed to drill a small hole to fasten the license plate...I live in NY, which has a front plate, but purchased in PA which does not....just trying to figure out if I should attach directly or see if there is a mounting bracket. Thanks for the comments so far!
My Patriot came from the dealer with a plastic dealership frame around a cardboard dealership ad plate. When I got my new plates I just screwed them in. I am in California, where front plates are required.
I suspect front plates are going to catch on big time in states that formerly didn't require them. California has a growing revenue stream from "red light photo cameras" that snap a picture if you of you blow a red light or do a rolling right hand turn. My Mother in Law got nabbed by one. The printout they sent with the ticket has a clear image of the front of the car, the license plate, the driver, time of day, and car speed. Tough to argue with.
If it becomes a national trend where most states are requiring front license plates, then I wish Jeep would design an indentation or depression in the front bumper for the license plate. That would make the plate less likely to get caught in brush, shrubs, etc....I suspect front plates are going to catch on big time in states that formerly didn't require them...
There wouldnt be more wrecks if people just followed the law. You have more than enough time to stop for a light once its turning yellow if your going at correct speeds and are actually keeping an eye on the road. I have not once in all the years I have been driving have to run a red light or throw on my brakes to stop at one. You should never rear end anyone if you are watching the road. If you give yourself ample space between the car in front of you and you yourself are preparing to stop, it shouldnt ever be an issue. When your coming up to a light your notice a few things. How long you know the light has been green it could be turning soon, where the people are around you, ect. Thats the problem with people today, everyone is in a hurry. Everyone has to do 100 different things while driving in the car meaning they dont have as much focus on the road and the people around them. I drive as if everyone is an idiot and could possibly wreck with me I never take for granted anyone having their blinker on or not having it on. If people followed the law and drive without their heads up their butts the cameras wouldnt be needed. I have never been in a wreck at all but I would rather be rear ended, than possibly hit someone from the side. We have red light cameras here and im all for them. I want the people busted that run lights, make right turns with out stoping and looking. If it makes half the people think about how they drive and half of them are correcting their mistakes its worth it to me.Not so fast here. In Georgia there are no efforts to add a front plate as the costs do not justify any benefits. As for red light cameras there was a large effort in the past few years that is now facing a backlash. Statistics are showing more wrecks due to people stopping short to avoid tickets. There are a few cases where the cameras were removed but the far greater initiative is to hold off putting them in.
This is Georgia after all - One of the red light cameras met its demise due to lead poisoning. This could be a whole different thread. I have very mixed emotions of the red light cameras. Its like big brother is encroaching upon us with our blessing. ...
