My 08 Pat the other day started to sound weird, like a flopping sound. I noticed later on the highway that the lower driverside windshield gasket was the culprit. Got to work only to discover that it has worked its way out of the channel from the corner all the way down halfway to the passenger side corner. (See pic)

Anyone else seen this, or know what the cause is? I am unable to get the seal to reseat.

I noticed mine was lying loose a few weeks back. My dealer put it back in position under warranty. Take it off & put it in the trunk untill you get it replaced. It serves no useful purpose my tech told me its just a cosmetic piece of trim. I used my Pat. through bad weather for 3 weeks before I got it replaced, It didnt make any difference.

If you ever had the windshield replaced, you know it really doesn't do anything. The windshield is sealed under that. I'd have the dealer, or a glass shop take care of it. Although the glass shop will want paid for it.

Mine came off last winter.
I had it replaced under warranty from my local dealership.

Yup, same story -- car wash incident. For me it was the passenger side that lifted, and the car wash also folded my front license plate in thirds. I couldn't get the gasket back in, neither could the dealership. They had to order the part and when I went back it was the wrong part and they had to reorder it. It was covered under warranty, but I'm not risking another car wash.

Eh, I just put it back on myself. It comes off during the auto wash. No biggie, not worth my time to take it to the dealer.

Thanks for all the replies. Doubt it was a car wash in my case, but rather the blizzards. The Jeep is going tio get an oil change Saturday so I'll have it fixed then.

i have the same problem. i took my patriot to the dealer under warranty.

and i am having waterleak on the floorboard of the front passenger side and rear right passenger side. the patriot is still at the dealer for two days now. i hope the gasket is not the culprit for the water leak.

I washed my car today and noticed my gasket was loose. I bought my Pat used and have 14k miles left on the warranty so I might as well get some use out of it. I can't completely disable ESP so I'll have them fix that as well.

Mine came off too. Didn't wait to take it to the dealer, dealer's suggestion...never know if water goes down that way...no chance to take.

Mechanic took off large black plastic board where the wipers are, put some caulking in the channel rubber band , put it back on the black plastic part that he re-installed.All under warranty. No way will this part come off again. Great dealer, great service and great mechanic.
