What kind of discounts are you guys getting off your new Patriots MSRP?

Just wondering what kind of barganing power do we have on Patriots.
Any discounts would be in addition to the current incentive of $500.
The Jeep I am thinking of ordering has a MSRP of about $23,000.
I'd like to get that number down about $1500...

Also, anybody custom order their Jeep?
If so, what kind of lead time?
Thanks all

Saying you want to get from MSRP down is kind of meaningless since MSRP is bloated.
Go to http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/new/2008/jeep/patriot/index.html and price the Patriot with the options that you want. It will tell you the MSRP, Invoice, and what people are paying. Don't pay anything over invoice (my dealer started at that), there is already enough profit built into just that price that they should sell it for that.

Yea, thats why I'm asking what people are paying vs the window sticker.
When I bought my Magnum RT, I negotiated $5,000 off the MSRP, and when I bought my Charger, I got $4000 off.

You're going to find that there is not a lot of room with the Patriot. It is priced as about as low as they want to go (if you look at the INVOICE price).

For example, my wife's employer participates in the fleet program. For vehicles like the Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, Chrysler Aspen the price you pay is $4000 less than invoice (high margin vehicles, hence why they push them). For the Jeep Patriot, Jeep Compass, and Dodge Caliber it is $1000 less than invoice (low margin, but still profit).

Do the research on what the INVOICE price is for what you want, accept no price higher than that.
If you need to, print out all of the possiblities that they might have at your local dealer so you know what it is that you should pay.

Thank man. Yea, I noticed the difference between the invoice vs MSRP is pretty slim.
I guess I cant complain too much as their are pretty dang inexspensive.
I have a few emails to local dealers...we''ll see :)

That is unless your buying a Dodge Ram....Dealers around here have ones with $35,000 sticker marked down about $10 grand

I got my Patriot at dealer invoice.....but I also had a deal where they included Fog lamps (not available as an option on my North) and installation at no extra charge.

I have suggested this before - see if your employer is affiliated with the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards program. You can purchase a vehicle for 1% under factory invoice plus $75. You can also apply any available rebates or incentives in addition to that price. I just purchased an 08 Liberty under that program and it was painless and a fair price and no dickering around playing games and I also got $2000 of rebates. I took $25,600US Liberty Sport down to $22,195US with the discount and rebates. A co-worker who posts on here also used this program to purchase an 07 Patriot.

Contact your HR person to see if your your company participates in the program. I work for Eastman Kodak and I see no EK bagdged Mopar vehicles driving around the plant. We also get to participate in the the Ford X Plan and the GM Supplier plans too.

I had a dealer send me a huge pdf file today that "would answer all my questions." In fact, it answered none of them. It even stated throughout the Patriot Sport/North without differentiating between the two. The best part was the added $1093 in "Taxable Vehicle Adjustments" which means "Gimme This Over Sticker Price Sucka!" What an a$$! He doesn't want invoice, he doesn't want MSRP, he wants almost 11 bills over sticker! Is anyone stupid enough to fall for this scam?

What I should do is go ahead and agree, but he's gotta gimme the North for the Sport price. That'll teach him to be a dickhead!

I got a grand of the sticker and the dealer made a grand. Good deal as far as I was conserned. Face it, they are pretty darn cheap to begin with.

I think I'm going to use the old time honored way of getting the best deal. I'll write up a sheet with the exact config I want in my Pat, fax it off to a couple of dozen of my closest dealers and tell them whoever comes in best gets the deal, financing prearranged and no hassle. I did this years ago and the spread between the highest and lowest bid was over 20%!!!

RTracer,

Here in the States, if you are currently active duty military, or retired military, you qualify for an additional $500 off the bottom line.

My wife's 4x2 Sport with the BA sound system and Sirius radio, plus a couple of extras was around $23K. In the end, I was able to get the Pat for around $18K. Mind you, I sat at the dealership all day and I think he wore me and himself down trying to make it work. I honestly got up at one point and asked to leave! I wasn't trying to be difficult honestly, he would offer me something, I would call my wife at her work, and then say yes, no or maybe if you can do this. The dealership in Raleigh was seriously hurting when I went in. They had to sell 28 vehicles in 3 days-end of the month. Myth has it that is the right time to go.

One dealer just quoted me 1% over invoice for one I order, and th eother quoted $200 over invoice. Not bad, I think the $200 over would be better.
So, with the current $500 factory rebate, I'm lookin at $300 under invoice.!

Don't Pay over Invoice!!!

I special ordered my Patriot 11/20/07. Before I picked the specific dealer to place my order (The one next to my house was the winner :pepper:), I went to all of the Jeep dealerships in the area (about 8 in all). Three quoted me "Invoice" plus rebates (Ends up being $500.00 below invoice :p). I did have some a few quote me 1-2 hundred dollars more :wow:, but three said they'd sell at invoice...even though I was ordering it exactly the way I wanted it.

My advice is offer them to buy at invoice....not a penny more...and the rebates come off of that. It can be, and has been, done before.

MSRP on my Pat was $20,700.
Invoice was $18,500.

My deal was for $17,900.

After we reached the sale amount I weaseled the 0% finance out of them.

Out-the-door was $19,700.

I also called Chrysler Service and got the 7-year/70k Bumper-to-Bumper for $1,200 after the fact. I'd saved so much cash on the car I figured the warranty was a good investment.

Edmunds was extremely helpful as were their car-buying forums. All-in-all, I couldn't be happier with the deal, but expected as much since it was end-of-week/end-of-month/end-of-year and every quota had to be met...

 My MSRP was $26,215.00 We found the vehicle at a dealer minus the engine block heater ($35) and Tow package ($50).

As a dealer installed option they originally wanted $500.00 extra over a price ($300.00 over dealer invoice) that we had agreed on for the vehicle they had in stock. Much haggling back and forth but we declined their final offer of the day.

I called them back about 3 days later (they called me 2 times the prior two days) and asked if they would give me the same $300 over invoice if I ordered from them and waited the expected 8-12 weeks (maybe longer with the plant shutdowns) The sales guy said yes but the owner really wanted me to take what he had on the lot (of course he did) so he put in the dealer installed options almost at the factory price and my wife and I drove out last Saturday with my Patriot (even in the color I wanted) with all options for $25,100.00 + tax

Patriot Limited FD II, The only options I didn't get was Navigation, 6 CD player, and optional side Air bags.

Oh yeah, I did all this without even going to the show room where I purchased the Patriot from as I had been to several other dealer show rooms and no one else came close. According to the Edmond's site I did better than most who purchased a similar Patriot by about $700.00, so I'm happy.

Sure you can do better then I did price wise and get closer to dealer invoice or below but my aggravation factor was already at maximum having negotiated at several dealerships with about 6 different sales people. Time is also money and I wasn't going to invest anymore of my time.

I had a set idea in my mind what I was willing to pay and having met that goal anymore time spent would not have been worth the effort to me plus I would have had to wait weeks to months for my Patriot at any other dealership (a nation wide search turned up no other vehicles that met my criteria).

Now the really great thing about the Patriot is that it rides, handles and performs better than I thought, and my wife absolutely loves it (it is after all her new vehicle) so I'm extremely happy.

The $400 under invoice($900 with the current $500 factory) is for either a custom order or one on the lot.
I am going to order one.
I actually have the order sheet in my hot hands with the price hand written :)
Another bonus of ordering is that I lock in the current $500 factory discount. He told me that if Jeep drops the incentive I still get it, but if it goes up, I get that too.
Make sure your dealer agrees to that too.
Keep me posted on where you go....good luck

#28 ·
Yeah, they told me the same thing in regards to the incentives above..i'm locked in at the 500 or better if it changes. Does anyone have any insight as to if anything is going to change after the first of the year in regards to the incentives, good or bad?

also, intrest rates kinda suck right now. My credit union's best rate is 6.49%. what are you all getting from Chrysler?

#26 ·
I'm a young guy, work freelance and don't have a steady income. My credit is very good since I don't actually owe anyone anything, but don't have a ton of of it.

Got the 0% incentive for 36 months with very little work. Chrysler Financial is trying to move their stock.

While everyone else is giving end-of-year discounts and incentives on '07's, Chrysler is one of the few to really push those incentives on the '08's on the floor right now. It's a good time and good deals abound.

Yea, what he said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Wifey and I just made the decision to put the order through tomorrow :)
May change it to what Steffy628 ordered but with the offroad pkg.

When did you order Spencer?
Dealer told me it may take longer than the standar 8-10 weeks as the plant shuts down for two week for the holidays

#31 ·
Are you planning on getting the CVT? I believe the Off-Road package isn't available with the manual tranny.

I ordered the Jeep 11/20. As of 12/14, my order was at D-1 with a estimated Ship date of 12/19 (Tomorrow!!! :pepper:) The Dealer says it takes a max of 2 weeks from the ship date to get on the lot (They're optomistic that it'll be here before the years end). There were three other orders that day (automatics, not manual tranny's) and they've arrived already. My guess, from what I read, is that they waited to lump 5-speed, Limited orders together on a production day, which pushed my order back.

If my date got pushed back again for any reason, I too, may be affected by the 2-week plant shutdown...but if I stay on schedule, I should beat it may a narrow margin.

#32 ·
Yea, we are going with the auto CVT. The Trail rated version is a must for me.
Its the wifeys ride after all.

We are actually hoping it takes a while. We still owe a tad over 11G on my Charger. Want to pay her off first. We have the money, but writing a $11,000 check sucks :wow:

I got $3395.17 off the price of mine. I was all set to get the 08 sport with a few upgrades. Then I found a dealer about 45 min away that had a brand new 07 Limited with a few upgrades left on their lot. I called them up and said Look, I'm all ready to buy the 08 sport, but if you can make your 07 limited fit into my budget I'll get it for sure. We worked it all out over the phone. I'm very happy with the way it all worked out.
