It's getting hotter and hotter around here as spring becomes summer, and it started me thinking that a white roof might help keep the Patriot cooler in the summer. I know some vehicles like the FJ Cruiser, old Land Rovers, etc. have had white roofs that contrasted with their primary body color, and I'm wondering if anyone thought A) if this has any real benefit in terms of reducing interior temperatures, and B) if such a mod would make the Patriot look better, worse, or make no difference one way or the other.
I played around with some photos of my Patriot in the old standby "Paint" program, but since mine is Light Khaki the glare on the roof in all the photos I take make it look basically white anyway, so trying to "white out" the roof area in my photos doesn't really give me much of an indication. I did notice that on the rear because of the way the hatch is hinged, you could paint the roof white but leave the hatch body color, so the only place the white would be noticeable would be the strip just above the windshield, which I really don't think would look that bad on the lighter colored versions...not sure sure on the darker colors though.
Thoughts?
