Silver FDI, 5spd, absolutely no options. I had to take a drive down to a gun store to look at some shotguns and noticed how much quieter and smoother the ride was than my old P/U. Some good floor mats, a trailer hitch and I'll be set!

I thought tin can was a car dealer term for a vehicle with no options. I made my mind up a long time ago that I can roll up my windows and lock my doors myself and not have to pay extra for a convenience, so I'm very happy with my "tin can"!!!!!!!

I like the "tin can" 25D Patriot. It fits in better with my old Jeeps that have few options. I don't like cars with a lot of extra junk. Simple is good.

Enjoy the tin can and welcome to the 25D club!

Minimalist is the word I would use!

The money I would have spent on those luxuries like power locks and windows is going towards something really important. A nice 20 gauge shotgun! The Tin Can is only to get me out to where I can ride, shoot, hike or play.:p

That'll be money well spent. Good luck with your tin can and welcome.

Yep "ride, shoot, hike or play" about sums it up. My Pat is named "Buddy" and it is like a faithful cow pony. There ain't NOTHIN' it can't do!:smiley_thumbs_up:

25 D FTW!

Congrats on your new ride. You should take some of that $2600 or so and treat your tin can to come modifications!

Very nice! I agree about the "tin can" minimalist thing being very appropriate for Jeep. I'll admit that I went with the 26E package. Didn't get a chance to see the vinyl seats - how do you like them? I remember my family's '88 Cherokee with no power. Love rolling down the windows!

Interesting to see how many uses people buy their Patriots for. Seems like it's getting it's use a daily driver, but just as useful for getting to those spots that we all love and enjoy.

Have fun out there.

welcome to the no-frill 25D club. My Apr 08 factory order had only an option for side air bags on the wife's insistence. I had the dealer add the Mopar oil cooler & skid plates.

My previously loaded rides & repairs cost were a PITA. Seized window motors in the winter; dead AC compressors in the Summer.

My Pat has no problem except for occasional engine check lite, which were reset by swapping OEM & locking gas caps. No leaks, no flapping hood, smooth manual tranny. Maybe just simple luck.

You can't get vinyl seats anymore (I asked), no gun yet but there are 5 different shotguns I have been looking at and what I really want to do is talk the shop owner down on the Savage Fox B-S (795 bucks) to something like $500 and buy the Savage and a Miroku O/U. I'm lucky enough to live 1.5 miles from work so I mostly walk. Next year I am transferring back to northern CA and will ride my bike to work every day. My 12 year old Nissan only has 87,000 miles on it.

The only stuff I bought for the Patriot so far was a set of heavy duty floor mats, a hitch and the wiring kit, and a cable to hook up my iPod to the radio. I need a small trailer for my quad, an oil cooler, and maybe getting cruise control added by a dealer. And a big bottle of Armour All to keep all that plastic nice!
