Don't know where else to post this...

Recently my Jeep has started a vibration. The vibration is almost as if the tires need to be rotated and balanced, but I've kept up on that and the most recent balancing it had was 2500 miles ago. Alignment is good, I let go of the steering wheel and it goes straight, so I didn't see what the issue was. I had the guys who usually do my oil changes and such take it for a drive with me, and they suggested it was something with my drivetrain and to take it to the dealership asap.

Took it to the dealership, they looked over it for 2 hours before they told me everything was fine. Drove it, same problem. It's even gotten somewhat worse and has a "spinning" noise as I drive. Almost like a chopper. Especially at speeds 35+

Anyone have any advice on this one? My car only has 27,000 miles on it with the factory tires, so I'm almost positive it's not that the tires need replacing.

You may have lost a wheel weight or a tire is going bad. I think the transaxle shafts have weights too. Sometimes a technician can't duplicate the problem without knowing exactly how it occurs. You may ask the service manager to ride with you while you duplicate the problem. I have done this and it always gets results.

Try rolling the windows up and see if the noise stops.

With about 20k miles on our Pat, I got a noise at about 40 mph. I took the Jeep to an independent tire dealer and they test drove it and said that my OEM Goodyear Wrangler SRA's were making the noise. I replaced the tires at 36k miles and the noise disappeared.

I am going to take the Pat to a tire shop tomorrow. I have the same Good Year tires, so we will see if that is the problem. The tires seem too young to be having difficulty already, but I'll do what I have to do. I feel some relief in knowing someone else with the same factory tires had a similar issue.

Mine do the same thing. The SRA's were a noisy tire to start with. Once you get some cupping on the tire edges, they sound like you're running monster truck mud tires. I do the cross rotate where I flip the rear pass tire to the front drivers side (and same for the rear drivers to front pass.) It has helped somewhat to reduce noise as the tires wear a different way.

From the 2009 Jeep patriot owners manual:

Wind Buffeting
Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of
pressure on the ears or a helicopter-type sound in the
ears. Your vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the
windows down, or the sunroof (if equipped) in certain
open or partially open positions. This is a normal occurrence
and can be minimized. If the buffeting occurs with
the rear windows open, open the front and rear windows
together to minimize the buffeting. If the buffeting occurs
with the sunroof open, adjust the sunroof opening to
minimize the buffeting or open any window.

Handy thing, that owners manual....

Have a 2008 Pat and have same problem as AB2005.

Took it to dealer...couldn't replicate.
Two weeks later went for oil change and complained about same problem. This time they said it was the tierods. They installed new and did a wheel alignment.
Pat started pulling to the right...took it back and they re-did the alignment and said it was not the alignment it was the steering. So they made an adjustment.
Pat started making that grinding noise at low speeds and when turning to the right. Took it back in...now they say it is the inner tierods. Can't understand why they didn't pick up on that in the first place.
Now waiting for parts to come in.
All this in less than 6 weeks.
Will report if this fixes the problem
