Hello everyone,
I ordered my 2011 Patriot about 4 weeks ago and today was the lucky day I got to pick it up. Everything is wonderful except I was wondering with the Uconnect package if it is supposed to have controls on the steering wheel? I was told it is supposed to have the phone and voice command buttons when you purchase the Uconnect but when I got my Jeep tonight I noticed that there is just a blank spot where they should be. I called the dealership and they're checking on it and they're going to let me know tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone knew right now? The manual has pictures of the controls on the steering wheel and everything I read says I should be able to access my phone controls via my head unit or the steering wheel.
Thank you!

UConnect

Yes, if you have the Uconnect (Bluetooth) package, it should include the steering wheel controls. It is a stand alone option. Some radios still have the phone buttons on them. Press the button on the radio face that looks like a phone. Talk through the commands to see if your UConnect is working. With the UConnect package, you should also have a USB port in the glovebox (the upper left corner). Just plug a jump drive in it and control the songs with the steering wheel controls or with your voice. Very Handy!!!

Thank you for the help. My salesman told me I would be getting it but now he is saying he imformed me incorrectly and they steering wheel controls only come with the cargo and security package but I am pretty upset that I was told I would be getting them so I expected them and now I don't have them and apparently am not supposed to. Im sorry but if you're job is to sell cars, dont make empty promises...especially to a first car buyer...im kinda bummed now just because I was expecting them to be there but I cant be upset I have a gorgeous new Patriot!

The manual shows every possible option (not just on your car). The info control display enabled Pats (EVC) should have the on-wheel control.

I understood that the dealers should know what is what... but in the end with the vast quantity of information readily available, it's up to the consumer to be well-informed.

I considered myself well-informed but after building what I wanted and talking over the options and telling him what options I wanted, it was his responsibility to make that happen and he failed even though he told me that it was going to be there. Plus, when you are looking through all the options on the site it doesn't specifically say anything about the controls on the steering wheel for the voice command and hands free phone so I believed the sales person when he told me that was included. And I am aware that the manual has pictures of not just my car but the language states if you have the uconnect then you can access it in those two spots...not just because of the pictures.

I am having the exact same problem with my dealer (Security dodge chrysler jeep in amityville new york). I was told my truck was ordered with every option in it but when delivered i had everything but the uconnect. I have the security and cargo group but no bluetooth. Ive been fighting the dealership and chrysler for the last month to have it installed free of charge but have been getting no help from either....
