Transmission oil for 2.0 CRD Aisin BG6 gearbox debate

I decided to change the transmission oil in my gearbox, along with transfer case and differential oils.
Whereas for the transfer case and diff things are pretty clear -80W-90 GL-5 type transmission oil (560ml in each) , I am thinking of the gearbox oil change.
The manual says Chrysler ATF +4 transmission oil ONLY (a bit strange if you ask me,as it is a manual 6 speed gearbox, but I won't comment on that),,with a capacity of 2 litres.
Everything fine, except when I went to my dealer to get it (you can't find it in regular shops and Chrysler specifically says not to use other ATF +4 that are not licensed),they don't get any more shippments from Mopar,as they are a Mercedes Benz dealer, and now Jeep and Chrysler,as we all know, are no longer tied to Daimler Benz, but to Fiat.
They offered instead Mercedes Benz ATF which they use successfully for a long time,as they said.I bought the 2 litres and went home feeling a bit skeptical about it.
I figured they know what they are doing (they are very respectable and trustworthy),but still reading the Chrysler warning....
So I google the Mercedes ATF stuff and here is what I find:

Mercedes Benz ATF - the ONLY transmission oil for MB gearbox 722.6 (W5A580).
Very interesting finding. Why? Because this gearbox is the one Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD,3.0 CRD and 3.7 use for some time now.
So I go to the Chrysler-Jeep page that says :

Use ONLY Chrysler ATF +4 in the mentioned Jeep W5A580 gearbox, any other being able to damage the transmission.

I'm a dentist, but I guess I can do the math: Chrysler ATF +4 and Mercedes Benz ATF should be identical or at least have the same specs.

Meaning my dealer is right,I can use the MB ATF in my gearbox.

What do you thimk,guys?

i think it all comes down to warranty. if you got warranty then do not do it.. Get the mopar one even if you got to order it online. Google atf+4 and youll find a site with the list of approved ones by mopar. If you are outside warranty then consider amsoil ATF. Not sure about the Benz one.. but your call.. just keep in mind that if you got warranty and something goes wrong then the dealer may reject your claim because you use the wrong fluid.

Good luck...

they actually use the Mercedes Benz ATF on vehicles under warranty.
so i'm guessing they must have an approval for that and that actually means that it is correct, the two fluids should be the same.

I had this question in a thread somewhere.

As you probably know, the BG6 is used in many vehicles. Some seem to use gear oil (GL-4 75W90 or 75W80)
Redline MTL is mentioned a few times as the preferred oil. Some use ATF+4 so who knows. I thought the ATF quoted in the manual might have been a mistake.

Anyway I will be using Millers ATF+4 unless someone screams 'NOOOOOOOOOOO'.

i know that list, but those are only available in the US.
you don't find those in europe.
i spoke to my dealer and they have a chrysler-daimler approval for use of mecedes benz atf 236.10.it has the same specs as chrysler atf+4.
actually the chrysler one seems to be mb atf 236.10 rebadged for chrysler use in the uk.
guess now they'll switch to something fiat is using....
