I saw that someone installed a Teyes Spro a few years back, and I'm looking to replace my stock radio in my 2017. Has anyone else installed this? Thoughts?

I thought of getting one myself, but the negatives I've read have lead me not to. Especially when I factor in that my XTRONS has performed flawlessly for the 3+ years that I've had it. The one that I have only has a 6.2" screen, but in reality I find that perfectly adequate for everything that I've used it for. Obviously, you're not going to be trying to play games, email, or watch a movie while driving (at least you shouldn't be). The screen is plenty big for Google Maps or Waze. I also use the Torque Pro app and the screen is plenty big for that too. Something that I would miss if I did get one oe the 10" ones is the volume knob. The 10" ones don't have knobs, and even though I have the steering wheel controls I find myself reaching for the volume knob most of the time. Another thing that might be an issue with the bigger screen would be the brightness when driving at night. Sometimes even my 6.2" screen is distractingly bright, even with a very dark background.

Not trying to talk you out of what you want, just sharing my thoughts/experiences. There are other brands out there with the 10" screen, not just Teyes. Maybe look into those. I haven't heard anything good or bad about those other brands.

I installed the 10.1" Spro last July. The instructions are in Russian but Google translator fixed that. You Tube came in handy as well. Works and sounds great. Gps is good, steering wheel buttons are compatible and the install was quick and easy. Dash bezel included in the price. Looks pretty good but is a smooth surface rather than the slight texture of the original. Teyes voice commands, Google Assistant, and Alexa all work well so button pushing is minimal. Wireless Android Auto using Android 10 software works fine but requires a launcher app. Not really a problem but I am told Android 11 upgrade will eliminate that. All in all, for around $270.00, I am pretty satisfied with the sound quality and the operation of the headunit. Basically, it is a 10 inch tablet with pretty good sound that fits well in the dash. No real problems other than the ones the operator caused.

I recently installed the Teyes Spro as well. The sound quality was weird initially because surround sound was turned on. I put a basic smiley face EQ and felt much better about the unit. You really can't beat the price if you're willing to tinker a little bit to get things right.

I’m going to bump this along with my new post. I just installed one of these from Amazon. From a company called crestovet. It works well although I’m having issues with the steering wheel controls not working. I’ve emailed the company for support and it’s not the worst thing if they don’t work.
Just saying the one on Amazon is great. I’ve only had it one day but the reviews are also great. I think a lot of the negative reviews are people with heavy hands that break stuff and don’t know up from down.

you should do it. From Amazon since the return policy. I actually should have done some research before I bought mine because I see now if you order from alibaba the Tayes unit you can get 4g ram vs 2g ram which would be worth it in my opinion since it’s a bit slow to boot (not bad but maybe worth it).
I will also be emailing the company to see if I can trade it up for a faster unit

It’s not so slow it just takes 5-10 seconds for music to start after you start the car. Out of the dimmer kinda works. The buttons illuminate with the headlights but the dimmer switch has no affect to the unit. I believe you have to use the touch screen to dim it.
No soldering or wiring. It just plugs in. I have to connect one or two wires to install the backup camera though.

Overall I’m very VERY happy with the purchase. Especially considering compatible car audio head units for $240. And those don’t even play YouTube while you drive

To correct the steering wheel button compatibility, try selecting a different Canbus. For the Patriot/Compass there were two to select from on my unit model. I had the same issue after install so I went through the install procedure again and selected the other Canbus. All was good after that.
I have found that should any quirks appear such as an app that just won't work quickly or correctly due to signal loss or whatever, it never hurts to drag down the task bar at the top and tap on reboot.

Okay I’m considering returning this now and going for the Teyes unit. It’s just slow and the steering controls seem to not work and now my cruise control isn’t working although it may be my bad wheel bearing speed sensor

so
Can anyone tell me the difference between the CC3 and the SPRO ? I see the cc3 is a bit more expensive but why?

I have the Spro Plus 4g ram/64g storage. It is just fine and can be upgraded to the CC2 firmware but the only difference is the appearance of some of the factory screens. Nothing much to brag about. The upgrade is available for 30.00 from Alibaba or for free online by some members of Headunit Reloaded forum. The Spro can not be upgraded to CC2 but the Spro Plus can. With CC2 firmware is may be possible to upgrade to CC3. I saw that somewhere in my searches but really didn't pay too much attention. I am pretty happy with the Spro Plus.

I fixed the steering wheel controls

but yeah. I just pulled the trigger and bought a CC3

I was about to get the spro plus and then I said screw it. The CC3 is the current model and will be upgradable. It’s worth the extra $100 in my opinion.

I’ll wait to return this one until the teyes cc3 gets here :D

it’s just too slow. It’s like a 4 core 1.4ghz or something and only 2gn ram so I’m hoping the cc3 unit will be fast enough to actually use the multitasking features of the tablet

this crestovet model was just too slow. It worked fine but only for basic functions. Maps is slow and any downloaded apps are super slow. It’s definitely something special right now but I want alllllll the apps and most importantly the SIM card!!!

my Jeep needs a phone plan now.

thanks for the info

Let me know how the CC3 works for you. My Spro Plus is quick but it is 4g ram. I use a hot spot for data. Didn't want the expense of an extra line not to mention I am retired and drive about 7k miles a year now, down from 25k.

I have an XTrons 6.2" andrid head unit. I have my Samsung phone setp to turn on it's hotspot automatically as soon as the bluetooth connects to my head unit. For me there's no reason to get an extra data plan. Also, I doubt the CC3 will have 5G, so using your phone's hotspot will be faster anyway.

Oooo this is interesting... How did you set your Samsung to turn on the hotspot automatically?

Hi, I just bought the Teyes CC3 for my Ford fiesta. But after installation, the steering wheel button doesn't work. I used the right Canbus setting for my car and still doesn't work. Has anyone had this problem and how did they fix it?

It's been awhile but I believe I chose the Compass canbus. I remember it made no sense but I chose it anyway and it worked. I did this during the set-up but I think you will find it in one of the set-up screens using the icon at the bottom right onthe main screen. Keep in touch, I can always give look at mine to see which I selected. Mine is not a CC3 though, it is a Spro Plus with the free software upgrade to CC2 .

Ford? No idea what settings are for a Ford. I am using the XP setting, then the Jeep canbus setting for my Patriot. I do remember I had to reboot the unit after each time the canbus setting was changed. If you haven't done that, select a canbus. Then drag down the upper right task bar on the main screen and push the reboot icon that appears. This should be done every time you change a setting regarding canbus.
