So my boss is taking the office staff out Sturgeon fishing Friday for the day between Lytton and Lillooet (BC Pat owners will know where this is). A few of us are heading out Thursday mid morning to make some-what of a trip out of it. I've decided to take the Peej (as the people at work would like to call it). Was all set to not take it and head up with the boss that was taking his Toyota Tundra (cough....gas pig....cough) and just take a 2 man tent, but low and behold the girlfriend let me know that we don't have the 2 man tent anymore, that she gave it away when we got the tent trailer. Thank you very much for that little information 1 day before I leave. I can't take the tent trailer cause I don't have the hitch yet.
It now comes down to taking the Patriot or sleeping under the stars. Has anyone ever slept in there's? I did a test of laying in it with the back seats down. Was a tad cramped, as I'm 6'0". Knees were slightly bent laying on a angle. Haven't tested it with the front passenger seat down, but I'm sure there would be ample room. Was hoping that I could just fit in the back and take the double-bed air mattress we have, but I don't see that happening. I guess I'll have to take the single air mattress and put the passenger side seat down and go with that. I could just sleep in the back with the backseats down and have the tailgate open. If it starts to rain, although it's not supposed to, I could just close the tailgate. Of course there will probably be so much beer consumed I wouldn't even know the difference :). Anyone have any experiences sleeping in there Pat that they would like to share?

Or if you have tint, and a front window visor for the sun, your set! Everytime I look at the back of my Pat, it just screams for me to put an air mattress in it. I saw someone else do it and it looked cozey. Might have to think about that for the next trip if it gets too cold!

Thank you. I just thought of an idea to take the mattresses in the tent trailer out and use them. One side is a double and the other side has a twin, so I'll just grab the twin side mattress and go with that. Should be enough to keep me comfortable. Fold down the back seats, put the mattress in the back, move the driver seat forward and put down the passenger seat. I should be good to go. Shouldn't have to worry about any light seeing as the sun isn't rising till 6 or 6:30 am. I'll probably grab some cardboard to put on the inside of the windshield though, just to be on the safe side.
The road down to the river, where I'm going, isn't anything like you went through in Squamish, so it should be no problem making it down or up.

wicked shots...and an excellent idea for when it's just me and the dog, cause no one else wants to come with me!!

but, sounds like you're going to have a boozy night, so you're probably right, it won't really matter where you sleep.

have a good one...take some photos and post em.

Well, I ended up not taking the Patriot. Wish I would've though. I missed that little unit while I was away for a couple of days. Just ended up going with the boss in his Toyota Tundra. The girlfriend had a friend at work that was nice enough to lend me her 4-man tent. We'll be going again next year, and I WILL BE taking the Patriot. There is no way they can talk me out of it next year. Hell, I might even pull the tent trailer up there as well.
Caught a very nice sized sturgeon. Also lost a very big one because the reel was tangled near the bottom and we didn't know until it jammed and the sturgeon started pulling me into the river cause I couldn't give it any play because of the line being all tangled and jammed. Think I ripped the hook right out of it's mouth, cause after it got away we reeled the line in and the hook was still on there, but the sturgeon was so big that it actually straightened the hook. Brought the hook home for a souvenir and a reminder. Was pretty upset that that one got away. But a few minutes after that one got away, I got the other big one, that I was able to manage to reel in cause there was no lines tangled. Overall we caught 6 in the 2-days. The first day, got there around 4:00 pm, we had the lines in right away until 8:00 pm and we caught 4. The 2nd day was very disappointing. Up at 8:00 am, leaving at 4:00 pm, we only caught 2. Beautiful weather, 29 degrees c on Thursday, but Friday was off and on clouds with quite a bit of wind. Was still 25 degrees though. Lot's of bear, wolf, and fox tracks around as well. Thankfully nothing was adventurous enough to come into our campsite during the night.
I'll try and post pictures of it and the beautiful spot we camped at. Right up on the river bed. Outstanding sandy beach. I could spend a week out there, and still want to spend another week after I left. No cell service out there, so you're not disturbed at all. I now realize that if you think bringing a plentiful amount of beer is enough, bring double that.
A little guidance on how to post pictures would be much appreciated.

I've camped in my Patriot twice and am planing a third time next week. I always sleep in the front bucket seat. It reclines very far back and is super comphy once you finally get to sleep. More advantages for the front seats: you can reach the stereo buttons, you'll have more room in the back for cargo and food, and it is much simpler and easier to prep for bed.

I wrote a thread called "gonna sleep in the jeep." It has details about window screens. Have fun on your trip!
