I usually take the truck when camping, and if only in a place for the night, we just load everything into the cab, and sleep on an air mattress in the back. It's an 8 foot bed, so I fit well.

If staying longer, we'll set up the tent, and all the camp stuff.

I slept in my Compass once. I'm only about 5' 6" so I slept comfortably. I folded the front passenger seat down and the back seats down. Was a better stay than some hotels I've stayed at before!

Here is a video so you can get an idea (skip ahead to 2:30).

If you can avoid it, do not use an air-matress for camping.

Air-matresses hold the cold-air temperature and is the main reason people wake up feeling cold when camping and can put a real dampener on the whole camping experience for the wives and girlfriends.

It may be fine for the odd-night of camping, but ideally there are much better options now on the market in most camping stores.

Most air mattresses also slowly deflate throughout the night so you're pretty much on the ground by the time morning rolls around. I have a multi-chambered air mattress that's only a few inches high when inflated (and never lost air!) and a 20° sleeping bag so I'm toasty. It depends on what you buy.

Though I'm pretty sure I'll have to stick to tents since I'm over 6' tall. Sleeping in the Patriot sounds like it'll be a little tight for me.

I've got a Coleman SUV airbed that fits perfectly inside and isn't a bad option, but there isn't a lot of room to sit up:

And I'm taking this out next week on a 7 day road trip:
