I give 75%

I love almost everything about my Patriot. Namely the looks, the functionality of it and the fact it is roomy inside.

My biggest Con is ground clearance. Next would be the fact that the plastic interior rattles when I play the music loud. I would say MPG, but I think mine are so bad because of where I live and how I drive. (working on the second part)

I voted 75% because I have noticed now when we go out with the in-laws, there isn't much room in the back seat! We are going to keep it one more year and will be trading it off... I don't like all the little things like the brakes when you back up ERRRRR... when you have a taller person sitting in the middle of the back seat and the dimming mirror don't work! Still not satisfied with the hood! In the long run we need something bigger and want more luxury!! We are looking at the Infiniti QX57, so if anyone as any input on them let me know!
WOW...going from a $20,000 SUV to a $50,000+ SUV...they'll be no comparisons to the Patriot I'm sure.

Hey hasty10805, don't be to hasty and sell your Patriot, you might grow to love it :itchy-scratchy:

I gave mine 100%. I have not had any problems, and yesterday I FINALLY drove on snow covered roads at 5am. The plows hadn't come through yet, and the Pat drove over very curvy and hilly snow covered roads without a pause. I am concerned about those folks who have reported problems and really hope Chrysler "gets on the stick" and fixes them. This car has the potential to be the VW Bug of the 21st Century.

Don't get me wrong but the wife and I like it, and thought it was roomy enough. Found out it is a little cramp. when my wife her mom and her bro get in the back seat. I think they are getting fatter "shhhhhh" you didn't hear that! What is going to be hard on us with going with something bigger is the mpg's. We have been on average 20mpg's this winter, and that is great!

hard to get over the low MPG (18-21)
and lack of power,

in retrospect was better off with a liberty
Same MPG, same price, much better power,

I am getting 27.7 as a daily average and 33.2 on the highway. There is no way a Liberty can touch that. I haven't driven the new Liberty, but I know mine keeps up with an 06 that my neighbor drives (has never lost me in a drag race). My biggest complaint is closing the rear hatch. It has no good way to close it without leaving fingerprints on the tailgate (the hand hold inside just does not work for me). I would also love to have the rear window open so I dont have to open the gate all the time. The only problem I have had with my 08 was a pinched wiring harness that was corrected without much problem. I do have a strange noise (sounds like a belt slipping) at 60 plus mph. It is not engine related (have shut the engine off and it still is there in nuetral) and I have not had time to take it in to get it checked. But at 12,000 miles it is doing well. The fuel mileage seems to have stabilized now that the engine is broke in well. The Jeep does surprisingly well in the snow (turn the traction control crap off and have some fun) and has plenty of room for a vehicle this size. The only other complaint I have is the speakers rattle when it is cold (I just leave the stereo off until the cabin warms up), which is a common complaint with the B/A system. All in all, you will be hard pressed to find a 4x4 with all power equipment, the B/A sound (with satellite radio), full size spare and the other options for $19,500.

I'm also in the 75% range. The Patriot meets expectations, and exceeds some others.

Exceeds expectations: Cargo capacity, handling, comfort, poor weather traction (it just laughed off the 1" of sleet we had a couple days ago).

Meets expectations: fuel economy (didn't expect it to be great, boy that's what I got), interior quality, overall build quality (not perfect, but solid).

Needs improvement: power. Another 30hp, please.

75%. Most everything is fine. The body panel fit (fenders, doors, and such) is the worst I've ever experienced. The dealer, however, has been very good about having everything adjusted at an independent autobody shop.

For some reason, though, even at 15,000 miles, I still haven't developed total trust in the vehicle. Maybe it's all the problems I'm reading about here in the forum; although I've experienced none of them.

Hm then it might be better to stop reading in car forums.

Well i read several brand boards frequently and if i everytime would think oh this might happen to me too it might be the best for me to walk for the rest of my life ;)

I voted 75%. I've had problems with leaks into the rear hatch (I think they're finally fixed). I find the ride a bit rough, especially in the back seat. I wish my 2007 had a dome light (IMO the front map lights and rear hatch light don't qualify as dome lights).

Despite the few shortcomings, I love my Pat.

4x2 compared to fdll

You are right
4x2 and fdl pats get great mileage, but milage on fdll pat is at around 18-21 mpg, someone even posting 16 mpg, with those mpgs 4x4 liberty gets about the same

lmost great

Gave it 75%.
Love the look, the handling and the general practicality.
Body panel fitting was almost comically bad (no leaks though). Adjusted by dealer it's now just mediocre.
Milage is great for an gas powered SUV. I have the 5spd, 2wd mind you. I`ve noticed a lot of dispointing milage report seem to originate from CVT2L owners. Low gearing automatic what did you expect:)
My only beef is with the fact that I couldn`t get a diesel. My previous vehicle was a TDI and going back to a revy, torqueless gasser was a letdown.

There should be no difference between the FD1 and FD2. I went manual with my 4x4 because I dont care for the CVT feel or lack of feel to be exact. Most liberty owners are getting in the 14 to 17 range and when I drove one I did not really like it anyway. If the mileage is low on a Pat that is broken in, I would be raising a stink at the dealer. I know I dont drive mine easy and it gets pretty decent mileage. I averaged 29.8 today on a 300 mile trip running 77 mph.

oh, but there is a difference! the lower FDII gearing makes for a higher reving engine, and worse milage. It's well documented on this forum, and also in the milage numbers on the sales sheets and government ratings.

I vote 100%, although I'm not happy having to make car payments again (the Jimmy was paid off 5 years ago).

Now that I've figured out how to turn off the beeping horn when I lock the doors, and how to automatically unlock the doors when you get out, I don't have any complaints.

I do plan to change the 17" rims down to 16" and put tires on with more cushion though. I suspect logging roads are going to be pretty bumpy and slow going (still too snowy to test out)

I'll give the vehicle itself a very high rating. My bone to pick is with Chrysler Financial that uped my interest rate a point a week after I signed a contract and still declined the $500 incentive. My contract had nothing on it that says they can do that and the vehicle was already registered in my name and a has a plate on it.

So far based on limited experience the vehicle is probably one of my purchasing decisions, and going through Chrysler Financial probably one of my worst decisions.

Oh well.:(
sorry, i don't understand....you have a SIGNED CONTRACT that states X% and then they what, sent you a letter saying your rate is now X+1%? how does THAT work? how were you notified? by the dealer or CFC?

CFC has been good to me....my last 2 Jeeps were through them. the first a lease and my current one a purchase. i'm very happy with them. :)

I have been doing some digging around since and it appears that CFC or any lender has up until 10 days (varies by state) to cancel the contract (which is not stated on the contract). In my case it appears that the dealer put in a regional qualification code instead of the national code which I qualified for and that coupled with CFC rates going up a percentage point 2 weeks ago now has me at 2 full points higher than when we shook on it. I am all for paying the going rate but folks plan their budget on the hard numbers in the sales contract not on hypotheticals. I guess if the interest rate on a sales contract isn't set in stone someone should make the buyer aware of that.

Awe, such is life sometimes. I'll get over it. I love the vehicle so far, but only have about 243 miles on her.

Oh, just for the record at this point after asking a million questions I am still not sure who was more at fault cause the dealer swears they put in the code that came up and it is still coming up with that code for other purchasers who have not had problems. could be the dealer, could be CFC not keeping does current.

i dont care how low there rate is that is why i would never get a loan from the dealers "people"

take the time to research the loans that are available to you before you even go to the dealer.
The bank would have a hard time beating the 0%/36 months I got on my 07.

Wait until September to start looking at new cars, and buy only the "last years model", but still new. We got both our Vibe (in September) and the Patriot (in January 08) at 0% from the dealer this way.

Seems strange that the top gear ratio had to be changed for more of a low gear for playing. I would be disappointed also. Glad I went with the manual now.
