Hey everyone! As the Christmas Season approaches I've decided that the Christmas gift I'm going to bless my Patriot with is an upgrade to the basic stock radio. So my question to you guys is: how easy of a task will this be?

Thanks!!

And there is no factory amp with the basic RES130 4 speaker system, right?

I made a quick video of how easy it really is..

I put my highs amp under my seat. Not sure about that one though. I did have a DVD flip out unit that had an external amplifier. I know that fit fine just behind the climate controls, but it wasn't no 7".

Make things easy, take the Patriot to your nearby Stereo Shop and have one installed. Anywho that's what I do. Free installation. Unless you like installing Radios then do it yourself, maybe cheaper too.

My local shop charges Highway robbery for installation. And I can even get the parts cheaper from Crutchfield. Com too soo..

Replacing the factory radio in a MK is EXTREMELY EASY. I done this over 50 times in different brands/models of vehicles and the Jeep is one of the easiest!

To remove radio bezel, just pull on it. Then you have 4 philips screws and that it! Radio removal is done.

Then you can install any aftermarket radio 1DIN or 2DIN in a minutes with a "mounting kit" and a 5$ 2007+ Chrysler universal harness.

PLEASE BE AWARE the 60-80$ Chrysler interface module (Metra, PAC, etc.) is a SCAM and it's not needed at all for Jeep MKs. The module only provide the +12V switched power output which is missing in the factory radio harness. But you just need to connect the +12V switched wire of the radio (RED WIRE) to the cigarette lighter +12V (RED WIRE) and that's it! Cigarette lighter power harness is located 1 inch lower to the radio and it's fully accessible. There's absolutely NO side effects of this procedure, anyone who will say the opposite are bull****ing you! Everything work as factory including the RAP (Retain Power Accessories), the factory alarm, the factory remote starter, factory door/light chimes, etc. The expensive module is a SCAM, period. In my Chevrolet I did the installation with a 5$ harness instead of the module and I lost the door chimes, but this is not a big concern, but this is NOT the case in the JEEP.

If you need any more help, do not hesitate!

Thanks! I saw your post just after I ordered, ironically! All that to say, I ended up purchasing the PAC adapter for $50 :( So since I will have the adapter, how will that play into my installation?

Thanks!

Hi, sorry to jump into this convo, but I was just looking into the necessity of those more expensive dash kits on the Compass forum (2012 owner) when I came across your post. Mind if I ask a few questions?

First, that shouldn't be any different for a Compass should it? Just basically make a splice into the cigarette lighter's red wire?

Second, the wiring kit has a separate red wire with a fuse in the package (not attached to the harness itself Scosche CR04b), better to use that for the splice or just a straight wire with no fuse?

Sorry if these are kind of remedial questions, it's been about 20 years since I've actually done a stereo install. Nice to see Jeep makes a vehicle you can actually get at the parts to work on!
