I've got an '08 Patriot 2WD Sport that I bought in November; I've now got almost 13k miles on it, and over the summer I've noticed a problem. Not a horrible thing, but annoying. Often when tapping the power button to turn the radio on, it will power on and then go off before it ever makes a sound. Sometimes I have to tap it a couple or three times before it will stay on. Same thing happens when turning it off; I can tap it off, it'll go quiet, and then come right back on. Not every single time I turn it on or off, but maybe 20-25% of the time.

As first I thought it might be my technique, like maybe I was just barely tapping it and not quite making the right connection...but several times my teenage daughter has reached over to turn the radio on/off and had the same thing happen to her.

Is this a common thing with Chrysler radios? I've got the standard single-CD version, if that makes a difference. I can live with it (assuming it doesn't get worse), since it does kind of give the vehicle a little personality; but at times it can get downright annoying.

Anybody else having this problem?

So far haven't had that problem. My sat radio didn't have all the channels for some reason and the replaced the radio..
I'd say make a note of it and let the dealer know. I know it probably won't happen when you bring it to the dealer but if you have enough info on it and have the dealer document it, if you wan tthem to replace the radio at least you have some documentation that it was a recurring problem.
Also since the Jeep is less than a year old, ther shouldn't be a problem with getting it replaced if need be.

Never had that problem, but I notice I seem to accidentally hit that button quite a bit when reaching over for something else.. it's kind of in a bad spot.

And as far as satellite radio goes, I think there are some stations that just don't exist yet. For example, I think channels 46-49 don't show up because there just aren't any. I don't have it in my car (I wish I had gotten it), but I've driven dozens of other Calibers/PT Cruisers/Compasses/Patriots that do have it.
