There are lots of folks on here who have done extensive audio upgrades and to my uneducated in audio stuff mind sure know their stuff.

So, someone who knows what to do will be around, I'm sure.

But from my point of view my local auto wrecker had a Jeep Boston package on his special table a few months ago and I took a look. I don't know about the specs but the speakers weren't all that. Looking at it, hefting the components, it just seemed to my mind that quality aftermarket stuff would be much better...and I think others agree, I've read threads on the Calibre forums about folks disappointment with the Boston system. Others like it...so go figure.

Now, my level is I'm happy with my stock radio/CD unit and upgraded speakers in the front doors, leaving the back doors stock. I put some Kenwoods that were on special here locally, installed for $99 the two of them. Three ways in front and stock in back and it has all the volume and crisp I can hear.

Others need amps and double DINs and speakers and subs and stuff...not me, I'm all about moderation.

 

I have the Sun and sound package on my 2012 Patriot and it includes the upgraded Boston Acoustic sound system. I think you have the same package for your vehicle.

 

Thanks for the tips. If it is indeed the Boston package that came with my Patriot, then I will have to upgrade because I'm not thrilled.

Guess I'll do some shopping. Besides Kenwood, what are some other good stereo systems for the Patriot?

 

An easy way to tell is by looking in the cargo area. If you have a subwoofer that says Boston Acoustics, you have the premium sound. If you have a storage compartment instead, then you do not have the upgraded sound. I've got the BA system and I've been very pleased...

I have alpine and pioneer after market. Alpine double din, alpine component speakers, pioneer sub, and pioneer amp. Love it.

Check out Crutchfield.com they have a lot of good information for you. They may not have the best prices but definitely worth checking out.

I wish I had the sound package, but instead I replaced the stock speakers with Rockfordfosgate primes and the difference is amazing.
