Thanks Pepe.. I was knocked senseless from the impact, sore back, scrape on the head, bigger knot as well... Great way to spend the last of my holiday money...

I'll be better before my Patriot will... So that's a good thing.... Thanks again...

Attacking a parking lot pay box wasn't enough excitement?
Now you are going after the parking lot lights?

You're in Florida, so you can't blame it on black ice....

What happened Wade????? :wow:
Did someone rear end you in the lot?
Did you get distracted by a hottie?
Did the pole jump out at you?

Here's what happened... I was turning left in a parking lot heading to a row where my three passengers had parked their cars. I was returning them to their cars from a round of golf on the Naval Base as they can't drive their cars on the base. I never saw the post. Only one of the passengers said he saw it but only a split second before it was too late. I couldn't have been doing no more than 5MPH when I hit it. The wheels were turned to the left just enough that when I hit the post, it caught the wheel and snatched it hard left then bounced the Jeep hard right. I side swiped the driver's side wheel well up to the wheel before it bounced away from the post. The fold away mirror did just that, folding flat when it hit the post so it did not get damaged.

Thanks Anthony... That'll be the name of my Patriot from now on... The Orange Crush... ;)

In some states, light posts are required to be in a circle-shaped platform with a defined minimum size (usually 24" high by 20" in diameter). Guess that's not the case in Florida... Also, that light post is mostly light gray; I can see how it would camouflage into the background of a parking lot under the right light (i.e. when the sun is in just the right position on the sky). They ought to paint the bottom 5 feet of that thing with contrasting stripes to make it more visible.

Oh mannn, sorry to see and hear about what happened to you and your passengers bud. I hope there will be no lingering affects from your impact that knocked you for a loop. I trust (and hope) the other passengers were ok?
I was going to ask about how your game went but I guess it's a little irrelevant now..Just glad to see you were in good enough shape to drop off these photos of the Orange Crush! (Good call DMAG!)

Hope you're feeling better Wade (as well as your passengers).

Try to have a good Christmas anyhow sir..

From the pictures, the post appears to be concrete. The yellow paint (at the bottom 3') has come off revealing the gray color of the concrete (not painted gray). The other thing I notice is that the post seems to be "newer" than the rest of the lot, there is a "new" patch of asphalt (but the peeling paint contradicts this?). I wonder if the lot owner was required to add this pole to meet code for parking lot lighting. The other light at the far end of the picture is in an "island" (and it is way over there: maybe 15 spaces @ 120').

The other thing is that the pole is in the parking spaces (you can see that the lines come right up to the base of the pole) but I assume that it is right at the end of the row.

I am glad you are mostly OK Wade.

The only good thing out of this is you're OK!. What a bummer, I can understand how you feel now. Let's be positive. This is only material,it can be fixed. No major injuries.

BTW I don't think they'll replace the lower front facia but if they do, you could get the one with holes for towing hooks! That would be a compensation.

Where in florida is this? Jax like the tow truck reads?

Ouch! That sucks man! My dad did that once with a neon, but didn't catch the wheel so he just scratched it up. And a friend of mine was backing out of a driveway and caught her drivers side wheel on the post (after destroying the drivers side mirror) and it actually prevented any real damage to the van...

Hope it gets fixed well and quick for you!

Thanks for the kinds words of encouragement folks... I'll get the initial estimate sometime Monday... Besides the obvious damages, from what I can tell, the axle was also snatched out of the transmission so there may be some damage in there as well. The adjuster won't know for sure until the dealership gets it up on a lift and she can get a better look at it on Monday.

Again, thanks for the kind words. I'll let ya'll know once I find out what the damages are...
