Kind of tough to compare when everyone is using different methods: litres, US gallons, imperial gallons.

We should have a rule, eh?
(everyone do it my way!)
If you click on my Fuelly Sig, in the upper left corner of the page you can choose the format you want to display, so that way it converts to to whatever you are used to. In imperial gallons, my last Sunday drive I got 30 MPG in my FDII :pepper: I should use those more often ;)

Hi Guys, new to the forum, bought my Patriot in September and the best milleage I get highway is 510km at 105km/hr. I have a Patriot North 4X4 5 speed.

I've had my Patriot since dec 29th 2011 and have 2668km on it and am averaging 12.6 litres per 100/km. hope it improves I drive it easy and don't idle much

Misleading fuel rating

I bought a 2011 AWD Patriot for its manual transmission, manual windows and locking as well as a nice, flat roof for loading a canoe. However the main reason was that I foolishly believed the Canadian Govt Energy Fuel rating guide, 7.2l/100km highway, 9.2l/100km) whic figures were also quoted to me by the dealer. Most of my driving is highway (85%) but even with careful attention to RPM I have not been able to better 10litres/100km. I am told by the dealer that snow tires and cold temperatures account for the difference. But I believe that I will probably only hit the promised figures driving in 5th at 80km/h on a perfectly flat surface with perfectly smooth tires, temperature 20C and no wind resistance! Hmn!

Drove back from Boston last week and I did 556 km before the fuel light lit up! Did average 108km/hr. Got 15000k on it now. It's improving.

A lot of the MPG numbers given for Patriots are for the FWD only models, with the 2.0 engine.

I know mine is a lot lower with the 2.4 and lower off road gearing. Still much better than other 4x4's that are as capable.

I do find myself wondering if I can gewt by without the FDII for my next Pat in order to gain a couple MPGs. I drive at least 25,000 miles a year. so a few MPG can make a difference for me in monthly bills.

Same situation as Dixie.

I have a 2010 FDII.

I average 330km on a tank.

Going REALLY easy on the pedal, 50/50 driving, I can get about 430km.

Wow, I have the Jeep Patriot 2.4L and my fuel economy is atrocious. I can never get 400km out of a full tank. The MAX is just under 350km from a full tank.

Considering it has a 51.5 liter tank that's a pretty abysmal rate.

It was advertised as 10.5L/100km.

I'm astounded to see the figures some of you get. What am I doing wrong?

**Looking around I guess I'm not the only one.

Wow that is bad. Are your tires low? Do you have a leak? Need an alignment? Air filter? Spark plugs? PCV valve?

No leaks. Replaced spark plugs 2 months ago. Air filter might need changing but I changed it just over 6 months ago.

Might need a slight adjustment for the alignment but nothing serious.

Only thing I can think of is I still have winter tires on it which I have to switch out. They are brand new though just used this winter, tire pressure is normal.

I have never got anywhere near 400km on a full tank since I bought this jeep. I bought it with 7km right off the lot in July 2010.

At first I used to fill the gas tank all the way every fill up. But I have not got over 400 km on highway or in city ever. No I find it more economical to just pump $25 worth everytime at the pump.

I am an aggressive driver usually. But I have a kid on the way so my driving habits have changed drastically and no improvement. I've even taken it on the high way driving no more than 100km/h and my gas mileage doesn't improve much.

That is abysmal. I just had 445 km's on my tank and had 10 litres left. That was about 60% city 40% highway in warm weather.
Seems like you have checked everything that could be wrong. Maybe a sensor or something that is not funtional 100% although you would think your check engine light would come on.
???

I just broke 1000 kms and it reads 12.6L/100 km which I hope gets better.....I have always heard that a new car needs about 10,000 kms and an oil change to break in and see better gas mileage???
