Patriot Trim Issues

I have a 2014 Patriot Latitude. The trim around the windshield is bad. I've taken it to the dealer and have contacted Chrysler Service and the response is "they're all like that". Anybody else have this problem? It's at the top of the windshield where it should be seamless to the top side trim. Sticks out like it's put on wrong. Design defect/

@JeepLexi, I have a similar problem. Mine is the trim above the drivers door, it keeps falling down like it's put on wrong. It's on my list of things to be fixed when I get to the dealer. Along with the squeaking brakes, once it sits for a few hours, they squeak for a few miles when pushing the brakes. This could me normal though. It don't last long, just long enough to irritate me...

I'm not understanding the OP.
There is no trim across the top of the Patriot windshield, therefor it can''t be seamless to the top, side trim. Unless they suddenly changed things up...I've not seen any Patriot with top of windshield trim.

All, any discs in a disc brake system will haze over with rust when sitting, its the nature of the part. Look at a vehicle that has been parked for a bit, check out the discs.

All you do is actually apply the brakes in reverse as you back out of the driveway and then again for your first stop or two. That clears the haze and the "squeaking" goes away. If it doesn't you have a very minor issue, one that any competent mechanic can fix...brake pad grease.

JeepLexi, I have the same issue as far as trim. It seems to not only abruptly stop but also it appears to be lifted. I dare not pull or push it to find out.

Also the flexi-seal around the passenger door edges just flops down a bit when the door is open. On the other doors, it's barely noticeable. At possession the dealer rep said that it's because the vehicle hadn't had time to settle since it was new (less than 6 miles on the dash at purchase in January). Here it is 16K+ miles and 11 months later...it still "ain't settled yet"?

Yep, same issue, the side trim follows the sides of the windshield and abruptly stops just as it gets to the top of the doors, and mslakisha, the flex seal around my doors are sagging a bit in the top front corners, but the temp has dropped to the 20's & 30's, so maybe shrinkage, hopefully when it gets warmer again it'll correct itself.

@Lewitude, point taken, what I tell those people is it's a Chrysler product. My Dodge Ram, in the owners manual, said " when the engine is started it will make a knocking noise when cold, but as the oil circulates the noise goes away." I've come to the conclusion that if you want a quality vehicle, you either find something made before 1975, or something out of your price range.

^^^ Thanks for posting the photo, I wish that was done from the beginning. I have the exact same thing on my Patriot, I think they are all weird like that. :)

Just checked the wife's Patriot and the passenger front door flex seal is sagging just a tadd out of the groove but it's nothing a few dabs of 3M sealant won't cure. Another thing I noticed is the drivers front seat left side lower trim cover has a busted tab on it and is a bit loose. Other than that all is well and we're pretty much satisfied with Lil Fuggly.

This is a very late response. My wife's Patriot has these very same issues and I actually put the passenger side door trim back in place and it created a gap down where the two pieces come together. I think Chrysler Corp cut the door seal too short and didn't bother to correct it. As someone else said they built these Patriots whenever they were going to a bankruptcy so I think that's why they actually stopped selling them. It's because they had too many problems. We have also have a problem with water leaking into our floorboards. I have had it at the dealership two or three times and they keep saying they cannot replicate the issue. I'm the one that's been doing all the research and figuring out what can cause this issue. The seal around the windshield was actually one of them that I looked into and that trim piece has a rubber seal that goes and meets up with the windshield. The one on mine was actually folded in a little bit in some areas so I had to put something behind it and gently push it back out to where it laid against the windshield like it should. These Patriots have a lot of design flaws that never got corrected. I guess you have to get a Wrangler or a Grand Cherokee and spend all kinds of money to get a quality product from Jeep. Before I got my Subaru Impreza I had a Jeep Compass and I really liked it it was a very sound vehicle. But whenever it got totalled in an accident we wouldn't have been able to afford the payments to get another Jeep. And although we were repeat customers they would not work with us enough on the payments. I would go back to the Jeep product if I could afford the payments. I really like the new Grand Wagoneers. I would definitely own another compass. Oh I almost forgot, whatever they did where they crimped together the body parts to seal them is absolutely unacceptable! It's not a weld, it is some kind of stupid sealant they used that's holding the body together. That is a very dumb idea on their part! How much money someone's willing to spend should not affect the product they get!
