Hey all...

I am looking to buy a new Patriot, how are these things holding up over the years? How are parts running and how has general support for the Patriots been? I am leary about trusting a chysler product over the next 5-10 years.
Who would buy another one? Who, in hindsight, would not have bought it in the first place?

Thanks,
Byron

Good questions to be asking and youve come to the right place to get them answered. Patriot hasn't been around that long, and will not stay in production after next year. So parts may get hard to find in the future, however the Patriot is based off of a popular Mitsubishi platform that will continue production for several more years atleast. So your Major parts will be replaceable to some extent. I bought my Patriot in 2009 and purchased the Lifetime Warranty with it, that is no longer an option from Chrysler.

The Patriot is a good vehicle, by 2009 most of the bugs were worked out of the Patriots design so if buying a 2009, 2010, or 2011 (if available) you will be getting a damn good vehicle. As for how long will it last. That is entirely up to the owner. How well you take care of a car determines how long it will last. Im not talking about driving like a grandma or anything. I'm talking about oil changes, preventive maint. Parking in a garage, waxing, armor all, scotchguarding things like that.

If you want to keep it on the road for 20+ years you have put a little into it. Remember the better care you take of your car, the better care it will take of you?

I'm only at 47,000 but so far no problems at all. :smiley_thumbs_up:

I've been a GM customer for 20+ years and this is my first Patriot, but Wifey has been driving Wrangers (3) since 1988 and each one has been better than the one before.

I expect to get 150,000 out of my Patriot w/out major repairs. I've got the lifetime warranty on the drivetrain so unless minor repairs become a nuisance, ol' Ingnatz will be blowing over the daisies for a while yet.

I'd certainly buy another and I may if I don't like whatever they substitute in the lineup after 2012.

Mine sounds like the suspension is going to collapse at any moment at nearly two years old/16k miles. Been back to the dealers 5 times. Never heard anything creak or groan as badly as this.

I can't wait until September when it goes!

Jeeps, by their very nature , tend to get treated a little differently to normal Vehicles . However there is no reason to think ,that with reasonable care & servicing ,that the Patriot wouldnt last as long as any other modern vehicle.

Some of the longest lasting daily drivers are Jeeps. Just the other day I counted seven late 80's early 90's Cherokees on my way to work. All of them looked beat to hell paint pealing off, dents, dings, faded, rusted but all of them were still chugging along in traffic Owners looking proud as hell. I like that. Lets me know that one day that could be me driving my well used Patriot still on the road after years.

I LOVE my 08' no problems at all. I will not be buying another one, because they will stop making them in 2012, and my 08' is going to last longer than that, hell, it may outlast me!

My 08 has over 50,000 miles, no issues yet. I have heard of folks needing tie rod ends a bit early, some just under the 36,000 mile warranty, and some just over (bummer), but mine are ok yet.
