Well here in Chamonix, France winter has arrived with a bang which has seen a substantial snowfall over the last 48 hours so I thought I would take the Patriot to one of the nearby resort car parks and see how it handled......boy was I in for a surprise.

Thought I would take it easy to start with

The snow was fresh and very light powder which the Pat went through with ease, finding no traction problems at all.

Then I found some slightly deeper stuff...

and then the fun really started, I haven't driven a 4x4 before but always wanted to try some donuts so set about spinning this little machine.......wow what great fun.

Here's the trench that I was leaving ploughing threw 50cm of fresh snow, again not so much as a hiccup from the little power house.

Even after stopping in some very deep snow the Patriot just got going again like there was nothing there. What a great bit of fun it was and its still snowing outside so might have to go back tomorrow for some more.

Never once felt like the Patriot was going to get stuck in any of the situations even the very deep stuff. This vehicle is just absolutely amazing. :smiley_thumbs_up: :smiley_thumbs_up: :smiley_thumbs_up: :smiley_thumbs_up: :smiley_thumbs_up:

Now that's winter performance

Well, Patriot Kmc...you made my day!

Here in the eastern part of Canada, in the appalachian moutains and seashore (Golf of St-Laurence river) of the Gaspesia peninsula, winter conditions are among the most severe for wind, snow falls, and cold temperature. You have convinced me! The Pat is for me and this beautiful region. Thanks... a picture is worth a thousand words!

This is my last winter with the Hyundai Santa Fe fwd. Next winter 2008, I'll be driving a Patriot 4X4 freedomI manual transmission.

PS The wife saw your pics...Way out and quite excessive she said... and very reassuring.

Je te souhaite un bon hiver :Racing:

Please tell us, what tires are you rolling on

:wow:QUOTE=Simon;37988]Thos pics are absolutely awesome.
Saved them for desktop. 8)
What tires do you have?
I didn't think it would do donuts with the ESP on?
Be carefull, never know whats under the snow.[/QUOTE]

For severe and extreme winter conditions
I think Toyo Observe G02 Plus winter tires would be my choice. They're among the best.

The top are Nokian tyres, don't know for size and they are expensive.

My 2 cents worth.

Hey Guys,

glad you all enjoyed the pics.

I have the FD1 4x4 and believe it or not I'm using the stock goodyear eagle tires.

Didn't touch the ESP during the deep stuff, but did turn it completely off when putting the Patriot in a donut spin to let all 4 wheels get some spinning going.

Its almost 11pm here in France and the snow is still coming down but hey, nothing is gonna stop this little machine. :D :D

Thanks for the great pics.Would you say that the tires work well in snow then?I think you've got the steel 16 inch wheels with the Firestones, correct?
Hey Belveder,
16 inch wheels yes but with the stock goodyear eagles not Firestones.
