Hi, I am a jeep owner wannabe. I don't have a jeep :( ... yet, but have been coveting the Patriot ::drool::

I have been lurking on these forums for a while and decided to confess and offer testimony.

I wanna a jeep!

Currently I drive a Prius and I love it. No complaints about that car.

I am considering the Patriot for the following reasons and I hope they are valid ones

1. To be honest, I wanna a jeep. Never had a jeep. The only 4x4 I ever owned was a Land Rover Discovery. A lot of my friends have jeeps and a lot of them love jeeps

2. I am at the point in my life where I haul more stuff than people. We are involved in animal rescue and I seem to spend a lot of my time schleping dogs and dog stuff around.

3. The winters here in Northern Virginia can be tough on a Prius. The highways are good, but getting out of the neighbourhoods can be tough. I have confidence that the Patriot can handle this.

4. Due to some injuries and just being an old guy, I find the Prius to be a bit low and difficult to get in and out of. I hope the Patriot will be high enough to allow this old dog easy egress.

I look forward to lurking some more. The search function seems to have answer all my questions.

I especially like the civil way people here seem to act.

So, if you are driving a Patriot in Northern Virginia and you see this old guy in a Prius drooling, give me a wave. Hopfully soon I will have my own Patriot.

Welcome! Make the plunge, you will love it. I am in my mid 40's and I at times have a hard time moving around due to a bad disc. I find it quite easy to get in and out of. The only thing I would do is get the built in backup camera so I don't have to turn around to see. At some point I will get an after market camera set up.

You only live once (sort of :) ) you won't regret it.

Perhaps dogs and Jeeps go together?

I have read many of your posts and have found them most informative and entertaining.

Shotinthenads, thanks for the warm welcome for a noobie. I will probably make the plunge (at least up to 19") next year. I am telling myself no Jeep until Dissertation is finished. At the rate I am going, I will be looking forward to the 2025 Jeep models. :D

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure that your making a wise move. The Patriot is by a landslide the best vehicle I've ever owned, and I'm on my second one:) I understand what you mean about getting in and out of it. After I had my wreck I got to remember how much of a pain it was getting out of little low cars. Before I got the new one, I rode with frie.ds a couple times in a grand prix, cobalt, focus, impala etc. And with broken ribs it was awful getting in and out of them. The Patriot seems like the perfect height and I havent had any issues. Not to mention, I just don't feel safe in anything smaller anymore. I certainly hope you get your Jeep before 2025. Best of luck!

The way things are going , lets hope the 2025 Pat doesn't look like a Prius. We dont want to take up all that dog space with batteries!!!

Awesome threads. I think I am gonna like it here.

So happy to see people involved in animal rescue. IMNSHO rescue mutts make the bestest pets. I would like to echo the comments about anyone considering a dog to check out the rescue organizations in your area. We have puppies and purebreds just looking for a family to love.

Maybe I ::need:: to buy my patriot now for the sake of my dogs? Hmmm :)

Very cool Weatherman! My pointer before him I got from a breeder, and her name was Dixie, which is where my on-line handle comes from. They are English Pointers.

Ollie has had his photo in Gun Dog, and Field And Stream, and he also is in the PRO calendars for this year, and the last several years.

If anyone needs a calendar for 2011, you could get one from them and support a good cause. Ollie is either on a month page, or the cover, of all 3 that they offer.

My Ollie is half German short hair, and half Lab. We got him from VA Beach Animal Control when he was about 6 months old. He's the smartest dog I've ever had and will do anything I tell him to. He's about 3 1/2 now and has been one of the best additions to my family I could have ever asked for. My other dog Gryphon, is half Bluetick coonhound and half Treeing Walker hound. He came from a guy out here who's a hunter and didn't have a tall enough fence between his two dogs:) Gryph is a great dog also, but stubborn as all hell. He'll do whatever you tell him too, but only if he feels like it:) Together they are a million laughs a day! And as I call them, they are definitely "Truck-Ridin dogs." You can't open the back of the Jeep if they're around cause they'll both be in there ready to go, and if you dont take them somewhere once they're in there, you won't hear the end of it:D
