Out of what jeep currently offers, what is your opinion of the best jeep. Thinking of functionality, cost, dependable, best built. Etc.

Jeep Patriot 2011 4x4, sound system, towing package, tinted windows...

Functionality is a nebulous term. It really depends on the functions you need.

If you're a soccer mom driving the kids around town, the Patriot stands above the crowd -- you may not get the best in any category, but oh so close to best in almost every category: fuel economy, interior space, cargo space, ride comfort, adequate power, excellent traction in snow, and can handle the occasional scrappy trail. I'm not a soccer mom, but I want all those things, so the Patriot fits me to a T.

If you have to be first away from a light, get the GC with the 5.7. Ditto if you want a luxury boat (or plan on pulling one).

If you're doing a lot of severe off-roading, get a Wrangler -- also helps you pull your friends out of the mud. Now they owe you a 6-pack. :D

I'm not really familiar with the Liberty, nor have I figured out why they make it . . . people must buy them.

i'd go for the GC.

and make sure it's a yellow soft top
hard top. I've had both. I have the hard top now. The rear wiper and defroster is way better then the plastic window you can never touch. I can actually see out the back now! And with the 3 pieces, it's quickly and easily open for those stray nice days in the winter. That being said, my big goal this winter is to buy a soft top (trek top) for my TJ.

So no, most dependable.... I trust the pentastar to be very reliable and start whenever I ask it to. The axles are way over built for the load they are carrying so they should never break in day to day use. In fact, the entire drive train is super beefy. The design is simple and strong by today's standards. No matter what the weather, the Rubicon can make it through. If you hit a curb (or in my case a Civic) you can expect no damage to be done. If for some reason it floods, pull the drain plugs and keep the windows open for a day, no damage will be done. The simple fact of the matter is that if you're just soccer mom-ing it, a Wrangler Rubicon is built much stronger then you'll ever need. Everything (except the motor now) has been tested over many years. The Wrangler will be a very dependable vehicle.
