MOAB 2014...

So I was thinkin yesterday about how badly I want to go to MOAB one year (prefferably the Easter Jeep Safari) and so I got to thinking...

By April I won't have sliders, a lift, or new tires and wheels on my Pat. So that probably isn't gonna heppen. I thought about the possibility of making it to MOAB next year...I'll have my sliders, lift, tires, and more likely than not LED lightbars and many many MANY other new toys to benefit myself on those trails.

So it looks like I am going to try to go in 2014! My request, if I may, is for a few other JeepPatriot.com Pat's to join me! Number one on my list of members who I think should join me is FWD :D Would be hilarious to see a front wheel drive Pat killin the trails :p

Several years back Jeep had a minorly modified Patriot and last year or a few years ago they had a minorly modified Compass. So I think it's safe to say a 4x4 Pat should do just fine (though it wouldn't hurt to have the FDII package!).

Let's see if we can get the ball rolling on this!

I've driven through Moab a few times doing out of town work up by Salt Lake. Love the terrain up there.

Looking at the trails list there are places a FWD stock Pat' could go, and places I would never attempt in a heavily modified Pat'.

You'd probably have to have a strong showing of Pat' owners if you went to the Easter Safari to help fend of the Wrangler Fanatics from poking too much fun.

That said, I could make Moab in 6 hours or less... Maybe bring a 4 wheeler to do crazy stuff without worrying about getting home.

Oh totally but I won't have my mods either till next year as well, plus I'm in school so I have to wait till summer vacation to go any where this semester.

as far as colorado, Not sure where, which trails or when, Just know that's where I wanna go on vacation.. Of course Northern utah/ca/co would work, just up in the mountains where my jeep can get dirty.
The white mountains of AZ would work as well, if there is some good trails we could do, and if that is closer for you guys.

Well CO is on the way up to Wyoming which is where I was planning on visiting family at this summer and AZ is further south and west of that route so I'd be cooler with CO.

Pretty much yea! The sliders will be about $600 installed (welded too), and the lift will be about the same installed, and then tires will be around $700+ installed so I'm guesstimating over $2k after everything's said and done...then will come the smaller and possibly more expensive toys...LEDs and interior stuff haha then future bumpers and shocks etc. my builds gonna be long and expensive but bad ass in the end :D

On that other forum, one of the guys posted this picture of his XJ, and I am jealous, just a little bit.

But in kitting out my patriot, that's what I would like it to look like, well as much as possible. I love that front bumper, FWD's is a bit too extreme for me. and I would love to line the wheel fender in black, and get some lights, roof rack for when we travel... in addition to the lift and sliders... and I still want somebody to make an auto disconnecting sway bar setup.

That thing is sick holy cow! And I want a slim/sleek front bumper that's light. I might even just stick to tubes, we'll see when that time comes. And I have those wheels already ;) nana-nana-boo-boo haha JK JK JK :D

Eeek...I'm not a fan of steelies on 4x4's but if thats the route you wanna go, go for it! I got my TJ Rubi's for $50 a piece (5 total). I told them I'd pay what a tire shop would pay...$50 per, and they agreed. Turns out they ran a tire shop about an hour away from me so thats why they agreed lol

Cherokee like that is my ideal trail vehicle, only because I think I'd always need the cargo space. I still see several used ones around in good shape.

Because it's a uni-body, you can only lift a Pat so much. I do like the 4x4 system in the Patriot though.

Should we start a separate thread for Colorado this summer? I'm pretty sure I'll be going to Denver sometime. My wife wants to go visit her sister who lives there. Will be a long drive though, so eats up a lot of the vacation time. Probably take me about 22 hours driving time, plus stopping for food, bathroom breaks for us and the dog, I should be able to do it in two days. But if I go 70 through St Louis I have a friend there who has a Chevy dealership, so may add a day. And would consider stopping for a drink with anyone from the forums along the way too, or if it's still my turn to drive maybe stop for a milkshake.

^ lol so your two days to get there turns into a week with stops here and there lmao jk jk yea we can whenever 'Circles starts getting a plan together on his end he could start it and we can just tag along for the details...

Cool. Last weekend in July would be no good for me, so I guess the weeks before and after too, since I'd like to spend at least a week in Colorado. If I take two weeks off, I should have a weekend in the middle for a meet.

I am hoping to meet some of the folks in Colorado while there.

I could meet y'all there the end of June for a few days cause my birthday is July 2nd and I want to be in Wyo for that. Or I could hit y'all up on my way back. Either way could work.
