Best bang for the buck...plus i loved it's distinctive Jeep Look. I wanted a Wrangler, but couldn't accept the initial cost or the cost per mile. The Patriot was a surprise to me...both in driving pleasure and aesthetics. I had never imagined getting one before that point. Compared it to a Honda Pilot...guess which won (partially due to cost as well...but i could see the aggressive design of the Patriot waiting to be unleashed)?

MPG's are gravy on the Mashed Potatoes.

Value vs price never looked so good to me.

It's hard to beat it really with the other contenders in the same price range in the UK. It has a VW diesel engine which is very good, the ride is grwat on long journeys. The best bit, it gets all the stuff a parent would need for a two year old for holiday in the boot/trunk/roof box :)

Oh and it's a Jeep

P.S. It's a Jeep thing

I already had the coolest looking small 4x4, an 1987 Mitsubishi Montero short wheel base with a 2.6L and 5 speed manual.

It was one tough little truck and way over built (and way, way under powered!). Still, even weighing 3800lbs, it got 20-22 mpg city driving and it was a feedback carburetor setup. It even had the factory suspension seat for off-roading. When I first saw the Patriot, I thought that's a new, inexpensive 4 door version of my Monty. You can see the backend of my Riot in the picture.

So yes, the good MPG, it's good looks and the addition of back doors (my friends hated getting in and out of the back seat of Tony Montero jr).

I traded my HHR that got better mileage but that I would not drive in the winter. I ended up driving my J-10 or CJ8 with mileage in the teens all winter. Winter here lasts 5 months. So I traded the HHR because I just didn't feel right driving a Chevy, and I wanted 4x4. However If Jeep had not offered a vehicle that got the kind of mileage the Patriot does, I would have kept the HHR or perhaps bought a Caliber. "Tough looks" did not figure into it. If I want tough looks, ride, and vehicle built like a brick $#!+ house, I drive the CJ. If I'm feeling extra manly I put the snow plow on the front and pile it full of fire wood.

I have always liked the old cherokee sport and the patriot sort of reminds me of it. I was always a truck guy but when gas prices shot up I needed something with good gas mileage and be able to go offroad and take me to my hunting spot. The patriot does that plus its the only small 4x4 suv that you can get a lift kit for. That was also a plus for me.

I'm a Mopar guy so when I went in the choices were Caliber, Compass or Patriot.
With those choices it was a no-brainer.

Decent capability + decent fuel economy, excellent value. When making the decision, it seemed like the perfect vehicle all-around for our purposes, and has proven to be exactly that.

You get a whole lotta car for your money!
It looks fantastic!
Great MPG,
low road tax band (ÂŁ180 per year Grand Cherokee is soon to be ÂŁ400 per year),
Traditional Jeep looks,
Sexy,
I got the LTD so has lots of great extras!
Still very rare around here, there are loads of Chreokee's and Grands and ML's, Rav 4's, X5's................ I've only ever seen 2 other pats!

And the JEEP name Afterall Jeep is the Original and best 4x4 manufacturer all the other are just imitations and wanna-bes'

always told my parents that one day I will own a Jeep and well I'm slowly working on it lol. But i liked the body style and the fact that being 6'4'' i fit with plenty of leg room and head room actually. When i went and test drove one that had already been sold i fell in love and jumped at the first one they had coming in. its only the 4x2 kinda wish i would have gone with the 4x4 but with killer gas mileage and plenty of space im as happy as ever in it.
