Maximum width for rim?

Hey all, I'm beginning to look at rims for the riot, and today I've test fit the rims I wanted to buy. I didn't get to completely mount them because the owner has hubcentric rings on them for his show car, and he was just letting me try them as a good friend. I plan on getting 19 or 20" rims, but I was unsure of how wide I can actually go. If anyone has any knowledge on this, please let me know! I'd like to go wider than 8.75 if possible, maybe 9.75.

How wide can I go?
Will the jeep be able to handle the higher widths?

i have 9.5" wide tires, and even with spacers, they can still rub. i wouldn't go any wider than that with a tire. and so i wouldn't go more than 8" on a rim. at least for the kind of tires i run, rims should always be more narrow than the tires. don't know if that changes for low profile tire.

how wide of tires do you plan on going?
Are you going wider than 235's?
if so would doing the pinch weld be a big deal to you?
Would the tires sticking out way beyond the wheel wells bother you?

my 8" rims seam to really stretch my 225's.. Up to you though. I'm excited to see what you choose!

Since I'm into the street style, I was hoping to run 225's with a mild stretch if I went with the 9.75"s. Some people aren't a fan of stretched tires, but it looks super clean to me.
I don't mind the rims/tires sticking out a bit. I actually want a little bit of poke (about 1/4 or 1/2 inch).
Pinch weld mod wouldn't bother me at all.

Dang..9.75? That's wide man! What offset are the rims you are looking at? Is it the same as you showed me?

The 9.75" ones I tried were +20 and they had the perfect amount of poke for my liking. But, it looks as if I'll have to run somewhere around 8. They make them in 8.75, and another brand makes a similar wheel in 8.5"s.
I never knew so much work went into choosing rims and tires!

245's are fine. I wouldn't go wider than a 9"rim though and even that fitment depends on the offset, Ideal is 30 to 45mm offset positive. If you decide to go with a wider rim a higher offset will be best. The 245/35r20 works out for Ozziemk probably because the outer height diameter is smaller than stock. the closest fit to stock od for a 245 is a 40 series.

So, I'm just going to throw out some things here to make sure I'm on the correct track. If anyone could chime in, I'd appreciate it. If I missed anything please let me know.

Rims:
XXR 530 19x8.75 Chromium Black 5-100/5-114.3 [+35mm]

225/45/19 I don't know if the 45's are going to be to tall looking. (I'll be going lower in due time).
Not set on these, just something for now. General GMAX All Seasons

Nice rims and the tyres will give you pretty good all round road use if thats what your looking for. You have got the size right, although I would have went for a 245. When I got my 20s I found that trying match them with an all terrain tyre with that big chuncky look and stay within insurance guidelines just wasn't going to happen so the sacrifice was off road ability, this didn't bother me to much as I was spending 90% on road and stayed away from mud or anything to rough. Now im gearing up for a trip and having to get a set of rims and tyres that will deal with anything. Im going for 16x8 rims with 245/75s 40% off road 60 on. So I will have 2 sets, expensive, and I dont want the hassle of swapping them around so I will probably sell the 20s. So have a real good think about what sort of use or look you want before you buy.

Do you need the hub centric rings? (I've never had to buy them for wheels I've bought before.

Those rims are pretty sweet, i do have to say.

I wasn't sure about the rings. The bore size of the rim doesn't match our pats, so I just figured I needed them.

I love them, I've seen them in person, and we test fitted a 18 one from a friends car. It was just to small size wise, and he had a hub centric ring that stopped it from going on completely. It looked great with the pat though. I'm really excited to get them. I may be ordering them soon, then just waiting on tires.

I'm wondering if I should buy one, and test fit. That way if they don't fit, I just have to return 1 rim, and restocking fee for 1 rim rather than 4.
