But even starting up the burnout from a dead stop and with the rear wheels spinning... once they reach what the car thinks is 35mph (actual car still not moving) then the ESP kicks back in.
I cannot speak for the Charger, but my MK allows wheel spin well over 35mph in ESP partial as long as i'm going straight. Just cannot do it on dry or wet pavement.

Hitzy,
I've never thought of that. I guess I've lived here in Arizona too long.

Now the question is: could you disable normal ABS without taking out the other ESP, traction control, etc.

My guess is no.

No, cannot have TC/ESP without ABS. In theory, you could still have engine torque reduction for TC and the other half of partial ESP with ABS disabled, but I doubt the system is designed that way.

ABS on snow/ice helps maintain vehicle direction. It allows the driver to steer around an object. Yes, it does length straight line stops as there is more friction from skidding.

ABS on snow or ice is literally useless, and dangerous AFAIAC. It pretty much doubles or triples your stopping distance.
I would love to disable it for winter conditions.
I'd rather be able to steer around something (which is what ABS is for) instead of slide straight into it.

check out Freedom Drive I and II.

The Jeep engineers already did this for you. The 4X4 Patriot is 2wd on dry conditions.

you want to disable the rear wheels so when you chirp the front tires on pavement, they squeal? Buy a 2X4, not an AWD.

you want to disable your ABS in the winter when it's most useful? Be my guest and buy an old cherokee without advanced safety systems, just please don't rear-end me.
if you want to drive offroad buy a yj
