Hello, I'm looking for my Jeep Patriot still, I have fallen in love with this car as a 2nd vehicle for my wife to drive once a week, and for us to go have fun with! But my question, is I have found an 09 Limited with nav w 20k miles, and there is an '11 sport that is pretty base brand new. Both trail rated. the price difference between the two is about 2500 bucks. I know the 09 has more stuff on it (leather, nav, etc) but I couldn't care less about that stuff. I really care about the capabilities. as far as what the trail rated gives you on the 11, do you get the same on the 09? ie ground clearence, suspension travel, etc. I know they gave all the '11 4x4 an inch extra, but didn't the trail rated pats already have this? I would much rather save the 2500 bucks. Thanks for the help!

The 2011 Trail Rated isn't going to be taller than a 2009 Trail Rated Patriot. As far as capability, they would be the exact same.

The main difference will be the 2011's upgraded looks and quieter interior, and if its new than you'll have the warranty longer

I'd personally go for the 2011 and just figure out the $2500 difference. I'd also ask about an extended warranty until 50k or 60k miles (doesn't have to be the gold level or whatever). The Pats are still using the same rear struts, tie-rods and balljoints and they are still wearing out between 25k-50k miles (with most just after the 36k warranty). You'll make your money back on the extended warranty essentially. I think I paid $900 for my 6/60 warranty when I purchased it and just rolled it into the loan, added like $15 a month to the payment but well worth it. They've already done about $1500-2000 in warranty repairs LOL.
