My rear drums went before my front discs, but that was at about 90,000 miles. I just had the brakes done all around on Wifey's Patriot and She's just shy of 100,000 miles.
I'd say its highly unlikely that you would need new brakes at 22,000 miles, BUT maybe so, if:
You leave your Jeep parked for long periods of time on dirt or grass.
- Moisture will lead to rust on the rotors. , Ah, but you said rear drums. Regardless, moisture could still be playing a role.
- You drive like my former neighbor who drove as fast as she could wherever she went, and slammed on the brakes at the last possible instant. She also replaced grills, headlights, and front bumpers more often than most people. Riding with her was an adventure! :surprise:
Still, I'm with nth256. Get a second opinion and an explanation.
