Jeep® Patriot EV joins the growing portfolio of electric-drive vehicles being developed by Chrysler LLC.

As a Range-extended Electric Vehicle, the Jeep Patriot EV combines the electric-drive components of an Electric Vehicle with a small gasoline engine and integrated electric generator to produce additional energy to power the electric-drive system when needed. This provides the positive attributes of an Electric Vehicle with the driving range equivalent to today’s gasoline-powered vehicles.

“The Jeep Patriot EV expands our portfolio of ENVI electric-drive vehicles and is just one more example of what is possible through the technology Chrysler is developing,” said Lou Rhodes, President, – ENVI, and Vice President, Advance Vehicle Engineering, Chrysler LLC. “Moreover, the Patriot EV provides socially responsible, advanced electric technology in the industry’s most capable compact SUV.”

The Jeep Patriot EV features a refined and clean front appearance to match the refined and clean powertrain. The signature Jeep grille features vertical accents, and the front fascia is a separate component to help set the grille apart. The use of body-color paint, blended with matte black B- and C-pillars, visually creates a smooth and elongated profile.

The unique wheel design and size gives the Jeep Patriot EV a wide stance which combines with the paint treatment to produce a sporty form. The interior of the Jeep Patriot EV features all of the elements introduced in the refreshed 2009 Jeep Patriot.

The Jeep Patriot EV uses an electric-drive motor, advanced lithium-ion battery system and a small gasoline engine with an integrated electric generator to produce additional energy to power the electric-drive system when needed. Range-extended Electric Vehicles provide customers a no-compromise means of dramatically reducing their gasoline use and carbon footprint. The Jeep Patriot EV has a range of 400 miles, including 40 miles of zero fuel-consumption, zero-emissions, all-electric operation.

The Jeep Patriot EV features a new ENVI Green Pearl exterior with a prominent “EV” graphic adorning both sides – top-to-bottom – of the vehicle.

Bastards! There they go with the roof rails that everyone wants and can't get. Love the color.

So, when is this coming out? They better have an AWD version too, a must have in some climates.

This car would be great for me in my job, but I don't know how capable it would be on "soft core" trails. I doubt they'll even have those roof rails on it when it comes out. I bet that SEMA model is missing some rails right now due to the EV photo op:-( I do like the rims!

U-N-O-B-T-A-I-N-I-U-M

Decisions, decisions!! Do I hold out for a Patriot Back Country or go with the Über-Kühl and fetching Patriot EV? Either way I get a Patriot that's wrapped in an appealing shade of green AND a roof rack system that rocks: especially the rails on the EV and SEMA models made out of pure unobtainium.

Come on Cerberus, don't give up now; you've got good people and great engineers. Give them the freedom to dream big dreams, think big thoughts and produce the best, most compelling vehicles made in North America.

We're all waiting for more of the good stuff, keep them coming.

Roof rails, front bumper and grill as well as plastic moldings on weel archees are really cool!:) Design upgrade is nice, hope we'll get soemting like that it in some 2010...just cant understand, whay they can make an interesting showcar, but can't offer that in life or at least as aftermarket accesories...

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, when can I GET ONE????

It's great that I see all these ENVI vehicles from Chrysler, but to me concepts don't mean squat unless they're actually planning on building it for the general public.

Tell me when I can walk into the showroom and drive off with one and you can SIGN ME UP! :smiley_thumbs_up: But until then, STOP TEASING ME!!! :(

P.S. Reminds me of the Dodge M80 concept truck from a few years back. Great reviews but for what ever reason, never made. I was ready to buy one of them as well. So much for 'listening to the public'.........:(

Just saw a quick TV interview from the Detroit Auto Show, and this vehicle is planned to be be out in '10 at a cost of $3-5K more than current Pats.

Like most concept vehicles, not sure if the roof rack, wheels, etc... will make it into production.

Yeah, I imagine as soon as the Volt is available, Chrysler will have all of its EV's available. I don't see them offering the FD packages with this vehicle for whatever reason, but no AWD is a mistake I think. Especially with a Jeep - this would be the ONLY Jeep without some sort of 4x4 available! I think conventional thinking says electric vehicles don't belong off-road. But in most cases for light-off-road use, for which the Patriot is capable, the vehicle also doubles as a daily driver. In most cases, I imagine the 40 miles would result in no gas use for owners during the week, while using the gas on the weekend outings.

Does anyone know, is the "small gas engine" the 2.0, 2.4 or something completely different? If different, how powerful is it?

From what I understand this type of vehicle has a very small gasoline engine that runs a generator to power the electric drive system. No where near the size of the current power plant that can actually move the car by itself.

I'm going to tell my dealer I want the first one made.:D

Let's wait and see but Jeep is working in the right way. 3k$-5k$ more...I'll keep mine mine. Maybe in 8 to 10 yeaars I'll consider.

#37 ·
$3-$5K is reasonable for a patriot that will be strictly a city vehicle.
I'm a firm beleiver that if the goal is to get people to use less gas then hybrids should be LESS then the comparable gasoline model. It makes no sense to spend $10-15k more on a hybrid if it will still be cheaper (over a 5-10 year period) to get the gas version and put slightly more gas in it :)
This is a different animal with a 40mile electric range before any gas is even consumed. As long as it can be fully charged over 8-10 hours at night, I see it being a big hit.
If it ever makes it to production, I wonder how the electricity companies will come up with ways to milk us.

I want those plastic wheel well trim pieces. Someone dinged my passenger side rear wheel well so bad it dented it right in the crease and knocked a huge paint chip off.

The Patriot ENVI looks awesome.

I think as far as the exterior ( sans probably the wheels and roofrack) we ar looking at a 2010 MCE for the Patriot. I like it. Chrysler is supposed to have plug-in Hybrids avail. by 2010 and IMHO the patriot is the most likely candidate as the first to market. I would still personally like to see the turbo 4 and/or a diesel option, but this is a start, jsut wish they'd make it in 4WD.

well half of the EV is still Startech.
get the alloys there:

they offer also the lower springs probably used in the EV and the rear bumper cover which is black on the EV but silver on the current Startech.

Isn't it strange when they make a vehicle look ever so slightly different than the production model? Wheel well trim, different roof rack, different grill & different bumper.
