Jeep Green or Steel Blue

Hi all.

I am a bees dick away from buying a Jeep Patriot here in Aus.

I cannot make up my mind on colour though.
Jeep Green is such an awesome colour, but I have come to like Steel Blue also.
I will be getting a grey interior.

Does anyone have any good pics of these two colours?

What would you choose?

Should I just flip a coin?

Cheers
M

Well, if this adds any to your decision, green has slightly worse resale value. I know what you mean about colour, because to a lot of people it is not that important. I have usually bought white vehicles because they look clean and classy when they have the right amount of black trim. Nothing looks better than a nicely washed white vehicle all tarted up with glistening Armor All. I told my wife I might break the mould this time and buy a different colour when I was looking. She didn't believe me for a second using my list of white cars as evidence. When I went to look at the very few Patriots available, I saw a light khaki one that I thought really looked good and made the Jeep appear more expensive than it was. I bought it and shocked my wife when I brought it home. I like it still a lot, but when I wash it, I can't help but think it is dirt coloured and I miss the clean white sensation. Of your two choices, the blue looks more classy to me and it will hide dirt better than the dark green.

Green may have a poorer resale value but not for Jeeps.There are way many more green jeeps that green hondas or mustangs and the reason is simple.Green looks just superb on a Jeep.

I've got the Steel Blue, haven't regretted it for a second. I wanted Green at first but I found it to be a little flat. I've gotten tons of compliments on the Blue... looks really sharp. I'll try to post a pic for you soon.

Hey Mud,

Was pretty much stuck on the Jeep Green v Steel Blue decision as you are. The Jeep Green looked great on the lot but I also saw the Steel Metallic Blue next to it and thought the Steel Blue looked that little bit sharper. Plus the colour seems to change depending on the light. Finally decided to go with the Steel Blue and it looks great. Gray interior works well with this colour.

Here is a link to a few photos of my Patriot on Google's Picasa;

Good luck - you will love the Patriot in either of these colours. Brad

no pics but had the same dilemma Jeep Green vs. Steel Blue....

The first Pat I test drove was Jeep Green and I think it looked ok but as soon as I saw the Steel Blue in person I was sold. It looks much much sharper if you ask me....that's my own personal opinion and there's nothing wrong with the Jeep Green at all.

Either way, you can't go wrong - it's a great car nonetheless.

Because it is a Jeep, I went with Green. If it were anything else, I would have chosen a different color. Also, my wifes favorite color, green. This helped make it easier to pass by my financial advisor.
The Patriot has been called "cute" by all our friends. I thought green would be less cute more masculine. Didn't seem to help. It's a toss up.

When I first decidedon the Pat, I had a toss-up decision between the green and steel blue as well.

Seems like a pretty popular dilemma. :)

I'm going with steel blue, though. I like the dual-tone to it...charcoaly blue. And the green just seems to be missing something for me.

ive got the green, not like i had a choice, the dealer i bought mine from couldnt keep them on the lot, and who says they arent selling? So he made a call down to a sister dealership in VA and had it shipped up for me... I didn't have much choice it was there only one on the lot, so it was either take this pat now or wait 2 weeks until they got the new shipment and let me have a compass to cruise around in... I love the Jeep Green so i was sold right away on it... Picked it up 2 days after signing the paper... my dad dropped it off at work for me and everything stopped they all watched from the counter as i got to go sit in it for the first time, i wanted to leave and just drive but couldnt

Yo Mud,

You guys 'Down Under' have a colorful way with words: nothing says ready to pull the trigger better than bee's dick :D. Thanks for making me smile.

Like you and apparently a bunch of us in these forums have learned, color choice can be a real stumbling block. I've been dragging my feet on placing a new Patriot order for weeks now because I keep wavering back and forth between Jeep Green and Sunburst Orange (..that and because I still haven't eliminated a new Subaru Forester as an option).

T'wasn't always so. When I first spotted a 2008 Jeep Green Patriot freshly off-loaded from the truck at my local dealership, it was love at first sight and, had I purchased the Jeep Green Pat straight away, I would have been happy and satisfied. A couple days later however I espied a Sunburst Orange model in just the right light on another dealer's lot and that's when confusion set in.

When testing at University they always advise that if unsure about an answer, then go with your gut and the first thing that pops into your mind. Also to me at any rate, Jeep Green says Jeep and the outdoors in any language. OTOH, it's does show the dirt more readily and it may lower the resale value as noted by another forum member (djp_63: What's your source for color-related resale information?).

FWIW, my ex-girlfriend (not my choice) and I bought a new 2003 Savannah Green Subaru Impreza TS Sport Wagon several years back and it was absolutely beautiful when all cleaned up as well as being distinctive verging on rare, but it did show the dirt. Savannah Green is almost identical to Jeep Green, but the color wasn't appreciated here in the States and Subaru dropped it after a two year run. In fact, green has fallen out of favor as a new vehicle color here in the USA for the past eight or nine years and shows no sign of a resurgence.

Mud, you're gonna love your Jeep no matter what color you get .. so go with your gut on color choice.

My wife and I have a 4Runner in green and one of the reasons we opted not to get a new 4Runner was the lack of the green color choice. Well that and price. The green looks great when it is cleaned up. When you give the trim a good armour all treatment and throw on some tire shine, the green seems so much richer compared to the other colors I have seen.

I choose Green, I have been admiring the Jeep Green on other vehicles for years... and figured I'd be sorry if I didn't choose it..

I did consider Steel Blue and Orange.. The Steel Blue looks REAL nice
My main concern about the Orange is that I know I would either still love it or absolutely hate it 3 months after purchase...

That is nice! (above)

I have seen a Blue in the flesh but not a Green,

This green seems to have a lot of character in the sun in this pic.

The dealers here in Aus have Compasses coming out their asses so I'll go and look at the colour of those I guess.

Orange is not available here (yet) and if it was every Aussie would buy it.

Dirtiness is a big factor for me too, as we are in a drought and on level 6 water restrictions.
But I am a huge clean freak as can be seen by this pic of my old Skyline (I miss you baby!)

But whats the point of having a Jeep unless its up to its nuts in dirt?

In my ming I am thinking
Blue = nice, clean classy
Green = classic, purposeful

But my wife just got a new car, a new VW Passat
which is green and classy!

Yeah I considered a green too- but it wasn't an option as the only colours left were Black, Blue and Red - I chose the Blue and the sis-in-law the black - the red one was the test model which we both drove before we put our names down- since then we have seen the red one driving about, and apart from these 3 and a black showroom model, they are the only Pats I have seen in the UK, which means I get lots of looks of interest - I like !! (Said in Borat fashion :) )

GREEN = JEEP

jeep was born green and green is jeep
I got myself a Green Patriot even though I had to wait a couple of months for the factory order.
In GREEN the beast definitely looks like a Jeep and not a Huynday or Suzuki.

has anyone got any better pics of a Jeep Green in full sun, high res please?

#26 ·
I've got Steel Blue. It was the best looking of all the Patriots on the lot, but the dealer didn't have Jeep Green. Had there been a Jeep Green Limited 4x4, I would have gone that route (I prefer green to blue, but I like both of them).

It still looks good.

I went with Green and love it! At night it looks very mystic and actually adds more to the boxy style which I love! My neighbor had blue Jeep Cherokee and I always hated it. Looked a bit dull but guessing the blue has changed over the years. Jeep Green is or was the most popular on a poll conducted here sometime ago. I've owned a blue Wrangler and got sick it of over time. I've owned Green Cherokee & never got sick of it :)

So judging by these responses, blue Jeepers are a tad bit quicker to respond than green Jeepers.

Rocky Mountain High

Señor Mud,

Here's a link to a few nice photos of a 'Jeep Green' Patriot in its element in the Colorado Rockies outside of Denver. This link and these snapshots were graciously shared with me by fellow JP.com member JeepHigh_11, who I believe won't mind me passing them along to you and anyone else who wanders about this thread.

I must admit that this green offers classically handsome good looks and will likely never go out of style on a Jeep. One might say in fact, bee's dicks considered, that Jeep Green is the 'Bees Knees'.
