best way would be to remove the stock ones and order a new set of emblems. they get all bent when you peel them off plus you lose the adhesion. I removed all the jeep ones and painted a black DuB one

 

Regarding the exhaust paint, try using a flat black BBQ paint.

Prior to painting ensure the exhaust is very clean, consider wiping down with rubbing alcohol (when the exhaust is cold !).

 

...and scuff up the muffler with some sandpaper or something similar.

 

My other car is a 2007 VW Rabbit, so I am a member of the Rabbit Owners Club forum as well. Painting the emblems is a huge mod in our community and even though I haven't done it myself yet I have read many DIY guides on this forum and the methods will be the same on our Patriots except for the removal and reinstallation of our emblems.
