Goodyear Rebate

Need to replace my SR-A's, and I don't know a lot about tires, and don;t want to buy 5, so the spare is the same, so will probably replace my worn out SR-A's with more of the same.

I could use advice on what to do if I buy a new '11 Patriot. One question I have is, can I get the Patriot with 16" steel wheels, and still get a tire big enough to maintain my ground clearance? I think one way they get extra clearance for the FDII is bigger wheels and tires, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, while looking at the Goodyear's, I saw they currently have a rebate on their tires, and not just the SR-A's, but looks like all of their tires. I like the Triple Treads too, so any comments on those is welcome. They also have a tire that saves fuel now, but not a great snow traction rating.

Anyway, here's the link for the rebates:

The Jeep Patriot brochure is the only reference I have ever seen that calls the Goodyear Wrangler SRA's an All Terrain tire, all other websites call them All Season or Highway All Season whatever. My frustration has always been that there are no AT tires in OEM 215/65/17 size. There are plenty of AT tires for 16" wheels and the 28" diameter that would just fit in the spare tire well. I found the SRA's actually not bad in mud and snow but were scary on an icy road and really tested the ABS brakes. I bought dedicated winter tires Michelin Xice-Xi2 for frequent ski trips on icy snow packed roads. My 8 months per year tires are All Season Cooper CS4 "T" touring tires. They are quiet and long wearing but not aggressive at all for any off/road use. I would either get 16 inch wheels or 225/65/17 Yokohama AT tires as a replacement but realize that the 28.5" diameter will throw the speedometer off a bit and not fit the spare tire well and might not clear the struts with cable chains.

Rebate is still available.

$20 each on the SR-A's

If you use a Goodyear credit card, I think they double the rebate.

This is what Goodyear says for the SR-A:
WetTrac® Technology For Confident Wet Traction, All-Terrain Capabilities And A Quiet Ride

If only, lol.

I'm probably replacing my stock SR-A's with another set of the same. I was going to find something better, but I really want to trade for an 11 Patriot, so leaving it as it is for now.

When I was shopping for tires I thought about getting Yokohama Geolander AT/S in a 225/60/17 size which is slightly smaller than the 28" OEM size. I passed on the idea because I found out the Canadian dealers don't stock that size for some reason and there was no sense in traveling to the U.S. to buy tires.
