Flappen hood

I notice my hood at 40MPH + starts to lift up in rear near the windshield if you lean forward while driving and look at you r hood you can see a big gap when it is lifting up. While stopped I pulled up the hood in the back to see what was up and sure enough the hood lifts up about 3/8 of a inch. What brought my attention to this is when on a two-lane highway driving 60MPH and a large truck passes you going the other diction the hood flops violently don’t think the hinges will last long with it doing this… Needless to say the paint job with it banging the fenders:mad:

I would be interested to confirm if this is an issue on all Patriots?

:eek::eek:
First the drippy sunroof and now a flappy hood. Noticed this the other day when in the car wash. Almost looks like the hood isn't latched down all the way. Highway speeds, same thing. Hood looks loose, but it's locked down.

Drippy and flappy. How many other of the seven dwarves are going to show up.

Meh.

To me the hood in general looks like a crap fit.

Even with it closed tightly when I look from the front it looks like it has been released and there is like a 3/4 gap all around between the hood and the body.

If I pull on the back of the hood by the windshield washer I can make it move like it's barely attached.

Shoddy workmanship.

Built/purchased 1st week in June. I'm missing passenger foam under hood rear location. I have the FDII.
Funny thing, I noticed that there was a piece of foam under the hood rear location on the drivers side that was not on in the same place on the passenger side . . . I stopped at a random dealer and checked under the hood on a Patriot in the show room, no Compass was on the the floor, and it too was missing this piece of foam, the sales man :icon_rolleyes:eek:n the floor told me "becase this was the same as on my Compass that this is the way it must be.":doh:
BUT I WONDER?:confused::confused:

I saw an old stone tablet that, when deciphered, stated:

"Thou shalt always have thy sunroof drippith on thee"

I'm not sure when it was written, but it sure is profound!

Ok, so I was near the Jeep dealership today after they closed and I went along the 6 Patriots that were in the lot and tried lifting the hoods. Each of them had the same amount of 'play' in them on both sides where the hood meets the windshield.

I'm guessing that this is an intentional design since, again, the movement was uniform on all the Pats. Since my P hasn't arrived yet I can't give any highway reports....

Out of curiosity I checked the Compasses sitting next to the Pat's and there was no 'play' in their hoods....

Well it's good to know we all run the risk of losing our hoods at highway speeds together.

I wonder how the Honda and Toyota seem to get better workmanship than the US manufacturers. I don't blame the workers ... I blame the training they receive ... if not that, it must be that the US manufacturers are permitting shoddy work to go unchecked. The buyers today are becoming more astute and quick to recognize when work isn't up to par. So they switch over to Honda and Toyota ... which are now being built in North America ... ???
