Even if we wanted to get the Patriot...

...out of the four closest dealers in my area, they have a grand total of ONE Limited model and that one is the 4X2. I guess we would have to go the route of ordering. How hard is it to get a 4X4 Limited in Sunburst Orange with the gray leather??? Another problem is that we live 5 miles from the Tennessee border and I will be damned if I buy a vehicle there and have to pay their jack-booted 10% sales taxes.

Oh and no offense to anyone on here who has the Sport model with the base wheels, but I saw one today up close and those little wheels made me want to puke. Jeep should offer the same wheel for all models...imo.

There is no trick to ordering, but depending on how far from the factory you are, is will take hours, days or weeks to arrive once assembled.

I don't have that kind of reaction to the wheels, but I wanted steel wheels. Personally I'd rather have a plain old flat black steel rim and a wheel cover or hub cap.

Not that hard...I just ordered it the way I wanted it...took about 6 weeks to get it in (Thanksgiving and Christmas included!!!)

Excellent color choices...IMHO...:smiley_thumbs_up:

Most dealers can do a "dealer swap". You tell them what you want, they can find it in their network of dealers they work with. Not all dealers do this, but most do.

You know what? All of you have convinced me. We are going to go with the Jeep. I just don't WANT a Jap-mobile. 99% sure we will wait till the 09's are out to see what changes are made. When do they announce the changes for the new model year? Even if they don't change alot of things, we will probably still order one. My only issue now is which 4X4 version do we want? I know we are not big off-roaders, but if I had the capability...well...you know.

Good call on your decision! *insert evil laughter* We pulled him over to the dark side, Obiwan!

Going to stay with your SBO plan too?

We got the 4X4 for the same reasons you are thinking of it: I wanted the capability for the wife to drive in foul winter weather and with a little luck this summer we can find a nice trail to try it out on!

Oh, and don't most auto manufacturers bring out the new stuff near autumn?

I would do what has been mentioned before, if you want it now, have the dealer look around. You could go to Jeep.com and build you car and see is a dealer nearby has it and then go pick it up. If you can wait an couple of months order it they way you want and get it w/ 5 miles on it or wait til the '09s

I live on the WI/IL state line, picked up a car in IL and on the loan paperwork, it was all WI sales tax and even county tax (5.5%) Hell of a lot better than IL/Lake county of 9%. IT adds up on $27,000

I used Jeep's dealer inventory search to find any 5-speed 2007 MK's within 150 mile radius. That was over 150 dealers inventory I looked through to find less than 10 vehicles (zero Patriots :( ). I test drove 1 locally, then bought one 200 driving miles away sight unseen. I handled everying over the phone. I spent 30 minutes @ my bank and 20 minutes @ the dealer when I picked it up.

That is what pissed me off when I was looking. If I build a vehicle I want to find the best match from any dealer. The website should show which dealers have exactly what you want within your range. I find it stupid that you must manually select each dealership one-by-one to see if you get lucky.

We are going to wait for the 09's to come out or at least see what changes are to be made.
Just keep in mind that these changes, if significant, will definitely lead to price increases.

When the '08s came out the "base" price went up, although that was only because stuff that had not been included as base on the '07 was now included in the '08 (like cruise, A/C, etc). The overall price with options did not really change, it was simply how it was packaged.

If there is a significant change to "quality" of interior items there will need to be an adjustment of overall price. I can see the incentives also staying fairly low with gas prices skyrocketing. It is already quite visible that if someone is buying a new vehicle they are shifting to the more fuel efficient vehicles (welcome back to the '70s). The fuel efficient vehicles are going to be what keeps manufacturers afloat for the foreseeable future and they won't need really good incentives to move them.
