Hallo everyone here!

This is my first post on this community :smiley_thumbs_up:

I'm 33 years old from Italy

I'm thinking to buy a Patriot this year so I'm collecting information and impressions on the web to understand if to spend the money on the Patriot.
I like to understand who of you is from Europe so that we can talk and compare about the same kind of veichle because our friends from America have many more option to choose from for their veichle!

Very quicly, I would like to tell you that what make me wonder is that Patriot has not, in Europe, the lower gear options so only 6 speeds to choose and also I'm very scared from Chrysler finacial situation. I think if Chrysler will go to bankrup there will be many problems for future assistance and eventually replacement parts.

Other side I got in love with Patriot siloutte which really match my dark side of Force :itchy-scratchy:

I will get the new car for daily road use but what I would like to get with Patriot is the possibility to have some Sunday trip in light offroads on the countryside or mountains around my area.

So I need a car which is confortable, not gasoline's thirsty, which let me have some fun in freetime and, last but not least, my car must be beautyful, as Patriot is for me!

cheers from North Italy!

I'm not sure what you mean by this. In Finland at least our options are a 2.4 liter gasoline engine with either a five-speed manual transmission or the CVT automatic transmission, or 2.0 liter diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission.

I do not fore see Chryslers financial situations effecting the support of the Patriot as its a very popular vehicle.

I do not know how current this article is but:

Success continued through the early 1990s. In 1998, German-based Daimler-Benz merged with Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler. At the time, this deal was presented as a merger of equals. But it quickly became apparent that it was more of a purchase, with Daimler being the dominant partner. To Daimler's chagrin, however, Chrysler's financial situation had once again dropped into the red. To counter, cutbacks were made and German technology and engineering applied. In the past few years this remedy has finally borne fruit. Thanks to new models and improved efficiencies, Chrysler is now the healthiest of the Big Three automakers.

oh, and greetings from Germany...

Welcome. In the UK we have a choice of the 6 speed 2.0 CRD which I went for the 2.4 CVT auto and I think a 2.0 6 speed manual. I looked at the competion and for the money you can't get a better deal. I went with Jeep as it is a well known brand and for me the only close rival was the Land Rover Freelander 2...which is a bit girly :)

Thanks for your reply!

In Italy you can only have a Petrol 2.4 5-speed manual transmission or a 2.0 Gasoline 6-speed manual transmission.

What I mean is (sorry I don't know the exact term!:notworthy:) a 6+6 manual transmission with 6 cruise speeds + 6 reduced speeds for offroad.

For the finacial situation I can report a news:

Cheers from Italy

Hi,
well i guess you have understand something wrong. Even the Trailrated version doesn´t have 6 low gear/offroad option.
The Diesel transmission is the only one with 6 gears. The Gas version has 5 transmissions or you choose the CVT wich has lowgear support in the Trailrated version.

Others than that there are things you can get in the EU version you can´t get in the US and there are things you can get in the US but not in Europe.
I posted some differences a while ago here:

Oh and this is a nice community here :)

Hello

Yes, there's the 4 wheel drive version, and then the 4 wheel drive "off-road" version with low gear. Unless you really plan on going off-road, you are probably better off without that anyway - it uses more fuel, and considering the outrageous prices you Europeans pay for fuel.. that's probably why Chrysler didn't even bother trying to sell it there.

It's a decent little SUV. I've had perfect reliability so far after about 16000 miles (26000 km). The headrests are annoying, I replaced them with some old Toyota ones. Oh and the gas tank is sort of small. Otherwise, it does what I want - carries stuff, goes off road, has a decent ride, etc. Good luck on your decision.
