Engine nearly stalls at red light

So my engine nearly stalled at a red light twice last week and hasnt done it since then. Except today I realized it will do that when I move the windows up or down. So does this sound like my battery or alternator is going south since its triggered by a power draw? Has anyone had this issue before? If it helps my engine always shakes the pat pretty good at a stop light. The dealer said the engine shaking is normal. I would appreciate any help.

Not necessarily. The electrics are putting additional load on the engine, but it shouldn't stall. First, how many miles are on your ride and when were the spark plugs last changed? They use standard copper core plugs and should be changed every 30k miles. I'd also suggest running a bottle or two (double dosed) of fuel injector cleaner in it for good measure.

I changed the plugs about 10k miles ago with the factory plugs and gap specs. I have about 63k miles on my pat. Ill grab a bottle or two on my way home from work and try the injector cleaner. Ive used the lucas brand before so thats what ill use. Ill keep you updated.

Could it be that maybe one of the belt pullies is dragging and not allowing free movement?

When the engine is running, do you hear any abnormal noises? The only pulley that could cause charging issues would be the alternator decoupler pulley.

The engine seems to run just fine and without noises. The cvt makes all kinds of noises though. I get a moaning and groaning kinda noise when comming to a stop slowly. It stops as soon as I stop moving. My cvt has done that from day one but it still works without issue for over a year.

that's odd. Only time I had problems like these was when I removed the factory plugs and installed double-platinums after 50k miles or so. The engine would shake, and would only not hiccup when I was accelerating. Even stalled a couple times when I was stopped in drive with my foot on the brakes for a few seconds. Found out later the plugs were gapped at .1 instead of .45 like they should have been, but if yours are ok....not sure what to tell ya.

After 6 years I had to replace the battery in our Patriot a month ago and since then we have the opposite problem as you. It has been extremely cold here and when I start the car it revs up to about 1200 rpm and stays running at that rpm until it completely warms up to the normal operating temperature and then it settles down to the idle rpm. Since we have a 5 speed stick shift it is not a problem at all but would be a little unnerving if this was a CVT instead.
