How do you override the electrical in the 2014 Patriot? I had a fan that plugs into my cig lighter and it ran while the jeep was on but when I turn it off the fan want off. This didn't happen in my 01 Cherokee. How can I fix this or can it be fixed?

I thought that Jeep made a dual position fuse for the later models to fix this. Look under the hood fuse box. You should find one of the fuses can be plugged in two ways. I think it even has markings like BAT and IGN. It will resemble my below attempt at ASCII art. When plugged into #2/3 it's IGN (or ignition) powered, but moved to #1/2 it will work off BAT (or battery) power (or vice versa).

I know it's present on the earlier models, but not wired to work this way. I thought they fixed it in the 2011/12 model years...but I could be wrong.

Awesome - Thanks Todde702  I will check that out this weekend and hopefully it will fix the problem!!!

I think I saw that in my Fuse box under the hood. I'll check the manual and give it a shot myself. I know you can wire a jumper to make it work as well, I'll try to dig up that photo but I don't think it's on my laptop.

Great post. Im glad I was able to find this. I found the fuse in my car and it is much better to have it on the battery!
great!
can you please share the fuse no?
wonder what happens if you leave them both in.

The fuse has 3 connectors - you get to use 2, either the left middle, or, the middle right. My 2012 came factory set to battery. The "cig lighter" plug-in still goes off if the ignition is off - something seems wrong!! I moved the fuse and no change in ignition on and off behaviour.
