Somehow I completely missed this moment. Where is this filter and how to change it. I haven't seen this in the regulations.

 

It's a foam cube in the bottom interior of the airbox. I bought mine on eBay, as the part isn't available from Mopar.

 

I just replaced it with a yellow sponge the green scrub side in, couldn't find anything in town but the sponge works the same

 

I’ve never seen this! Where is this part? In the air filter box? Or the engine case? I just found one on advance auto

 

It's in the air filter box.

 

A reminder that this filter is used on the later Patriots with the cylindrical air filter, not those with the flat air filter. In the latter, the crankcase ventilator tube is on the clean side of the air filter. When I was looking into this, the area around the ventilator was pristine - no oil or anything.

 

Appreciate it! I came because when replacing my cylindrical air filter I noticed this mess! Very much needing at minimum a clean and realistically a replacement.

 

Even though I didn’t need a filter, I fabricated one out of open-cell ‘egg crate’ style packing foam. Presumably, any oil-resistant open cell foam will do.
