Just purchased a new 2015 Jeep Patriot Sport. Went with the 5 speed manual. So fare haven't owned it two months and have started with a few basic mods. Tinted the front windows to match the rears, Full interior LED conversion with back up and license plate lights. Pinch weld mod completed, plasti dipped the front grill black. Wasn't satisfied with the stock wheels as I have taken it off road a few times and want more ground clearance and traction. Being the Craigslist fanatic that I am, that is the first place I turned. Found a set of 03-06 Jeep Rubicon wheels and tires, 245/75r16. This is when I completed the pinch weld mod to clear the wheels. They did rub at full lock but were great off road. The issue I ran into was that they got to much traction and the small 4 cylinder couldn't turn them over on a steep incline. I live in the Colorado Rockies, so everywhere you go is up hill. So I road around shortly on these wheels before finding a great deal on powder coating. Again, turned to Craigslist and found a "local" (2 and a half hour drive) guy that would dismount my tires and powder coat the Rubicon wheels. I wanted to go for a old school look. When you use to get an old jeep it would come with cream pained steel wheels, so I wanted to recreate this in my own way. I got the Rubicon wheels powder coated Creamy Almond, and just picked them up a few days ago. Traded the tires on the wheels for half on the powder coating cast. (what a great deal for me) Also just got my Cooper Discoverer ATP 225/75r16 tires in the mail from Discount tire. Now its just a waiting game for the wheel sensors to come in. Then its off to get them mounted and see how it all comes together. Already have gotten lots of information from the forum. Also in the mail is white 6000k headlight bulbs and 6000k yellow fog light bulbs. Everything should be here in the next week, and I can snap some photos. Now that the wallet has been beat up and thinned out I will be waiting till mid winter before getting the RRO 2'' lift, but thats the next thing on the docket.
