Ok...for all those looking for based out 2014 Patriots for sale...I found one at a dealer near me in CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA. Got an email for service coupons and went to dealer website. I always like to look at the inventory, and there it was. Nobody ever has these...

2014 FWD Sport 2.0L 5sp
doesn't even have A/C
Dealer has it marked down already to $12,999 and looks like it could go further by what it shows...

I am NOT a salesman or affiliated with them at all. I'm a teacher, so just trying to help you all

Here's a link to the vehicle itself:

Just wanted to let you all know.

If I put this in the wrong space or if this should be some place better for people to see it, then please, someone who knows what they are doing, feel free to move it.

My local dealer has one of these base models for this price about every three months or so. Note the bottom right corner of their ad states there is a $550 dollar administrative fee tacked on, bringing it to $13,500.

$17,000 msrp
-$13,500
= 3,500 below sticker
- $500 factory rebate
= $3,000 below sticker

Let's guess that the dealer invoice is $1,500 less. That leaves us with $1,500 below dealer cost. A VERY GOOD DEAL FOR THE PERSON WHO WANTS THIS VEHICLE WITH 2.0 ENGINE, MANUAL TRANNY, AND NO AIR COND..

My guess is that if selling this car helps the dealer meet their monthly sales quota (factory/mfg. kickback), they almost break even.

I think they offer these as a loss leader, with the idea that almost nobody wants this model and they can talk them into an upgrade. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! A lot of misinformed people buy cars based on monthly payments, not total cost. So if the dealer can offer a substantially better Patriot for only $49 dollars more per month, many people are hooked.

These are loss leaders, they get people into the dealer, then they hook them into another car. half the time somebody goes to look at one of these its already sold.

Also, invoice prices are a joke anymore. The manufacture builds in extra costs that are bogus. I can't recall what it is off the top of my head, but there is a line item on the invoice that if the dealer sells the jeep within 1 year of manufacture date, the dealer gets around 1500 bucks, if they sell it within 60 months they get an additional 500 bucks. etc. but these are included as costs on the invoice to inflate the invoice. also they get bonuses for selling their quota. Somebody I know who used to be a dealer, and they sold ALL of their cars at a loss, but the bonus they got from the manufacturer was so significant that he did very very very well... (this was previous to 2008, things have changed a little since then). Best bet, is to go in, pay cash, or at least negotiate the Out The Door (OTD) price of the vehicle, and then figure out the prices from there.

These cars represent the typical "Bait" of most shady Car Dealers. They are used to get ignorant shoppers on the lot with the promise of $99 a month and $99 down. Not realizing that you would need to have a credit rating of 999 and be able to qualify for the Neptune Super Nova rebate to be able to get it at the price.

I actually heard a a radio ad for one of my local dealers last week to have buyers bring in "Junk" from your attic and garage and she would give you $3500 of a new Hyundai.

I listened to the ad and wondered how stupid does she think her customer base is to actually believe that it's a legitimate offer. I can just imagine some poor schmuck in the showroom with a box of newspapers and broken lawnmowers trying to get $3500 of a new Elantra.

I wanted to! I hate AC. My wife convinced me to get it. I have a base model, though it has AC, but it is a 4x4. I was very close to getting the same one without AC. Would have saved me roughly $900. Besides my wife nagging me to get AC, the lifetime Mopar warranty I bought covers AC, and was the same price for a base model w/ or w/o AC, loaded or not, so I figured I'd get AC...

In the south we have a saying........."turn the 4/40 on"......... translated roll all 4 windows down and get driving at 40mph

my YJ didn't have AC but with doors and top off didn't need it.....I would rather have it than not but most of the time if I am on the move my window are down and AC is off.........that is just me though

Our saying is "4-55 A/C" for the same thing.

But sit in traffic like I do every day, and you'll want the A/C, rather than the top off or down. Just like on a bike on a very hot day, with heat pouring off the road and engine, moving isn't bad, but sitting for a couple minutes can really bake you.

Hey...I only posted a link to it because I know a lot of times people are looking for the vehicles pretty based out and without all the fancy stuff...

You can't get much more based...

Just figured I'd try to help out...I have A/C and honestly, I live in the South and most of the time, when by myself, I don't use it...Just don't care...I figure if I sweat, that's my God Given Sauna Membership....plus it cuts into gas mileage....

Now, when the wife and kids are in the car, of course I use it, but when just me, hardly ever have it on...Do use my heated seats though...all the time, even in the summer...Helps keep my back loose...darn slipped disks...

The show Mythbusters proved this true only over speeds above 55mph...that's when the drag becomes a factor. from 45-55 it's actually a mathematical wash and below 45 the windows down wins.....so, if you are sitting around in traffic or just doing a lot of low speed neighborhood stuff, windows down takes it....

Boar Actually, our land has been pretty slow these past few years for deer hunting, so we decided to migrate and try to get some of our newer hunters their first kill. Even though that didn't happen, it was definitely a good time. I got to do some real off roading in the Jeep too.

Sorry for going off topic :)
