AUX jack and cell phone mp3 player

Does anyone know if I can use the mp3 player that is built into my phone with the factory radio?

Its the RES 130 radio and it has the AUX jack. If you need to know, the phone is a Blackberry 8900. I have tried to plug it into a radio before that had an mp3 jack and it just made a buzzing sound but that was a cheap radio so I don't know if it will work or not.

Well I went and bought the AUX cord and it works with my phone so I guess I answered my own question.

Glad you got it worked out. I was going to say as long as you have the right cable or cable adapter it should be able to work. Most phones have a 2.5mm jack and may be mono sound, but still use a three connector prong. One section being for the microphone and the other the speaker headphone with a common between the two. Some phones are stereo, and use a 4 connector prong for right, left, common and mic. The buzzing sound was probably a cable that connected in the mic signal as well.

No reason why it wouldn't work. If it works with headphones, it should work with the AUX jack. I might recommend turning down the volume on the Blackberry if the sound is buzzy or staticy; it isn't hard to overdrive an AUX input with a headphone jack (the higher the volume on the source device, the more likely you'll overdrive it).

There's no buzz or static sound and it actually seems to work better with the volume turned all the way up on the BB. Thank you both for your input.

My Samsung M900 Moment works great plugged in.

You're going to need an AUX input adapter. Check the three letter model of your head unit and look at the websites for Precision Interface Electronics or Peripheral Electronics. I have the Peripheral CHYP and it works fine. Google those or search here for the applicable threads.

If you have no AUX socket, you might consider getting an FM transmitter. It connects to your MP3 player, and plays thru your radio.

I'd actually like to figure this out too. I've got the 6disc changer with no AUX jack. If there are audio inputs on the back of the stereo it should work.

I refuse to use the FM transmitters. such poor quality IF it works.
