What's your experience with it? Does it do any of the claims Chevron says? A waste of money?
Comments appreciated. Thank you.
The Chevron site lists its benefits as follows:

Clean deposits from fuel injectors, carburetors, intake valves, and combustion chambers
Cleans, restores, and protects the entire fuel system, including sulfur-contaminated fuel gauge sensors
One tankful of fuel treated with Techron Concentrate Plus, Complete Fuel System Cleaner, can help: Maximize fuel economy, Restore lost power and performance, Restore and protect operation of the fuel gauge sensor, Minimize harmful exhaust emissions, Relieve cold start problems, Minimize deposit-related knock and ping, Restore lost acceleration, Remove deposits from two-stroke engine.

Oh man, that's a difficult question to answer. I use it. We don't have an eye inside our engines to see the results, if any. We have to rely on faith, I guess, and maybe the internet.

The general consensus is that the best fuel system cleaners are ones with P.E.A.. The two off the shelf products most known to have PEA are Techron and the Gumout Regane products. The Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner is their higher percentage PEA product. It and the Gumout products are considered to be effective by the internet gurus. That advice is worth what you paid for it.

If you use top tier gasoline, then additives are probably not necessary. For the rest of us, maybe using it a few times a year helps keep injectors clean and "maybe" cleans up the rest of the system a tiny bit. So, a few times a year skip the Starbucks and treat your car to dose of PEA.

According to the following white paper, large dosing of PEA can end up with contaminants in your oil, so it is good practice to do the fuel system cleaning just before an oil change:

For the love of God stop using additives. The service manual lists this as unnecessary because the gas you buy locally already contains enough for the average driver. Only under extreme circumstances will these additives help very specific people in very specific instances and only marginally. Save your money. If you do super short trips very frequently (ie: your engine doesn't finish warming up completely prior to the end of the trip) then you may want to think about this. If the majority of your trips allow for adequate warm up time (usually 1mile/1.6km) than you'll be fine without it.

My favorite Is Lucas Tune up in a bottle.

BUT I have only used in in 4 of the 30+ cars I've owned, my very first car that had 256k miles on it and I put another 110k in the next year and a half delivering pizzas. it would have a problem where the injectors quit firing properly and the car would stall. A bottle of lucas every 4th or 5th tank of gas stopped that misbehavior. the only other three cars I've used it in were my 89 XJ, my 03 Protege, and my 98 B4000 truck. because the cars tent to sit for long periods of time, and if they have sat more than a month or two without running I'll toss a bottle in the tank, to make sure nothing gets gummed up. but even then, i've bought just a handful of bottles.

For 99% of cars out there, it's snake oil. buy quality gas, and you won't have an issue. a lot of them already have an additive in it. The only reason I buy it is for gas that has sat around a long time in my car.

I'm not sure if warm climate conditions would affect fuel burning efficiency compared to cold weather, short trips, etc..

My son owns a Kia and they actually recommend use of Techron IF low quality fuel is used and/or top tier fuel is not available: https://kia.oemdtc.com/109/fuel-system-cleaner-recommendation-and-fuel-quality-information-kia

"This bulletin provides information about “TECHRON Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner” that is now Kia approved and recommended (refer the vehicle owner to the maintenance section of owner’s manual) for complete fuel system cleaning during routine service intervals and preventative maintenance. A 12-ounce bottle will safely treat up to 12 gallons of gasoline, and can be used in all gasoline engine types, including MPI or GDI systems. “TECHRON Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner” should be used at every standard oil change interval (7500) miles, if TOP TIER* Detergent Gasoline is not available. “TECHRON Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner” effectively cleans fuel injectors, intake valves, combustion chambers, and protects critical fuel system components from corrosion and sulfur content in fuel. This product will not harm emission control systems and will not leave behind harmful combustion chamber deposits. "

"Kia recommends the use of high-quality gasoline, including gasoline advertised as “TOP TIER* Detergent Gasoline,” as well as periodic use of an approved “Fuel System Cleaner” if TOP TIER* Detergent Gasoline is not readily available. This is especially important for vehicles equipped with gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines with advanced fuel delivery systems."
