I received some of my parts so I went ahead and did the oil cooler and routine 30,000 mile maintenance. The plugs were so easy to change. It took maybe 25 and most of that was showing my fiance how to do that. All of the plugs had a gap greater than 0.05 from wear. I did also replace the serpentine belt since I was going to be up in there anyway and I like to change those when I have access or it reaches roughly 50k. The factory belt only showed a few signs of aging. It is easy to do a belt change if you have a 16mm wrench, but you have to do it from the bottom of the engine. I also added the Mopar oil cooler. For those that have the 2.4L,this is going to be a pain. I found the drain cock for the radiator but I had to take the bumper off. Good practice when I add the winch. Also the motor side of both radiator tubes was damaged from heat so I had to cut them off which necessitated that I remove the battery, battery mount, and intake system. Once the tubes were on it was really easy. Side note for those that can't find a 12mm Hex bit. I used a T60 bit. It worked perfect and I was able to apply the necessary 35 lbs. of torque. As soon as the other parts arrive I will start putting it all together and adding pics.

Here are some pics of my Jeep as I first bought it, when I added my Class III Curt hitch, the aftermath of my front end collision, and with the Rocky Road Roof Rails and Adventure Rack installed as well as my new Black Rock wheels. The Jeep is repaired, but since I already caused some damage to it, I might as well add all this stuff as it's not "new" anymore, lol. BTW, I had about $2000 worth of damage. The other two vehicles were close to being totaled. Shows that Jeep knows how to build a SUV!

For those wondering where the radiator drain cock is... The tiny black dial looking thing between the radiator/condenser attachment bolt and the line leaving the condenser is it. I am debating on adding a way to get to it easily from underneath when I add the winch mounting system. Also, you can see the small amount of damage to my steel bumper from the previous accident. It will all get replaced so no worries.

Did I read that right?

You got 4 for 300 and need a 4th one? Haha I think you mean fifth or so I hope, but awesome choice on the coopers, I love mine so far and I've been off the beated trail a little in the snow and it handled so much better than stock

Tires are in. Waiting now on RRO to send the winch mount and bumper kits. I also found out I need to order a fuse block for some of the stuff I am adding and get a new battery with much higher CCA. I am very disappointed that Mopar decided to use a 525A battery. Oh well, looks like Odyssey makes a really good battery. Anyway as soon as the bumper kit gets here I will be installing it, the winch, the driving and roof light harnesses and lights themselves, and if money permits some blue halo's. I also am going to try and paint the grill a dark gray similar to the dark plastic molding but without the texture. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Great build so far! I love those tires too, you scored a great deal on them. Mine were about $540 installed with replacement certificates and free lifetime rotation/balance.

I also want to get an Odyssey battery since the desert heat here kills almost any battery in just a couple years.

I totally appreciate the photos you're sharing and hope you continue to post more as your build comes along. Rock on!

Well the Quadratec winch will not fit the RRO mount. I got the mount installed and started all the electrical. Everything is routed into the interior. Just need to get another winch that will work and possibly sell this one. BTW, I did paint the grill and added the tow hooks. The cutouts are done too so when I get to install the winch I will post a pic of where the cuts need to be.

Just installed an Odyssey Battery 75/86 PC1230. This is one of their extreme batteries with a four year warranty and includes top SAE posts and side GM posts. This will be great to go with the winch as it acts as both a deep cycle and starting battery. Should get plenty of good use out of it. BTW, it has 760 CCA which is 235 more than the stock battery. Plenty enough to power the winch and all the lights I need. Just to add, seems this battery will do just fine. I wouldn't go much bigger as the alternator might not be enough to charge all the way if the battery is drained and there isn't much more width as the radiator hoses would start to get way too close.

Took me a while to find my old thread. Anyway, here is how she stands now. I have some more mods to do including new tires and wheels after my spacers arrive next week. Other than a cold air intake and new exhaust, I have come to the end of my Patriot build as there isn't much more if anything I can do that would be useful and enjoyable to me. I will update the front page sometime after I get back from my vacation.
