Anyone had this problem? My original water pump quit and I bought a new one , it was a Gates and pump would not fit , it got to almost flush but not quite, I thought it was maybe because the propeller part looked different. Got another one that looked more like mine but it wouldn't fit either . Got about 1/16 inch away from fitting tight, and there are two little pipe pieces on the housing that are supposed to help hold the pump in place they seem to be causing the problem although they look like it should fit. It rocks back and forth on those pivot points. The holes there in the pump are drilled bigger like the original but slightly different but appear to be deeper than the original to my eye but neither pump fit and it was about the same kind of gap with the rocking back and forth. The old one pops back in place just fine. I have a third pump ordered that looked more like mine in the pictures, I hope that will work.

Ok, good news, new one arrived and fit great, just like original , so if you have this trouble, you may have to return a couple or a few to get the right one
If was starting to wonder if the water pump got so hot it warped the housing and pump but luckily no.

Just out of curiosity, what brand pump did you end up with?

Thanks for sharing and the heads-up. Participating on a few forums that have pro mechanics participating, I have migrated to the camp that is fed up with aftermarket parts quality decline and I often choose OEM parts now, especially if it is difficult to access and I only want to do it once. Such a shame that highly respected names like Gates, MOOG, Timken, KYB, etc.. have gone down the drain.

Sorry for my repeated rants about this.
