Hi
Because of a wrong oil presure my engine broke down.
Something happened inside the engine near the 'tumblers' and the injectors, as a result also the is crankshaft is damaged. that gives a huge noise.
I can not fix it. Only an overhaul, but that costs too much money.
Now I'm looking for a replacement engine

Cheers,
Mr Mooze

That sucks, how often did you change the oil? How many miles on the motor?
Good luck with fix

try to find a damaged car with a 2.0 tdi engine.vw,audi, seat, skoda, any should fit, just make sure it's not a common rail engine, but a pd.

Think I have found one out of a Dodge Caliber.

VW engine code is ECE (maybe that can help someone else)

ECE is actually the chrysler code, equivalent to the vw code BKD.
2.0 tdi pumpe duse 16v 103 kw 140 hp.
the caliber one will do fine,it is identical.
i feel you for the 2.5 no go.
hope it won't be too expensive on you.
btw,how many km on the replacement?

I'll be following this thread with interest.

Did you go with the Caliber doner vehicle or some other?

Are you going to replace the clutch and dual mass flywheel?

Best of luck.

BTW, are you going to do an autopsy on the original engine to determine the oil pressure failure. I'm sure I read on this forum of someone with a CRD that had a problem with the oil pump drive / balance shaft. The manufacturers sticker on the cam belt cover on my Patriot shows engine code BYL which, according to the parts book, has a balance shaft / non DPF. The other options in the parts book are BSY (non balance shaft) and BWD (balance shaft and DPF). Essentially, as Goguadi says, it's a BKD.

Hi,
The Volkswagen engine is indeed bulletproof, but apparently it can still go wrong.
I'm not going to do the cost to have the engine checked as I'm not gonna use it anymore.

Meanwhile, all is built on to the engine, that was a hugh job because nothing of the Cailber enigene is the same, even the cover on top is different.

Monday my garage will fit the engine in the Patriot. So, I am excited to have the Pat back!!

Cheers

how is the caliber engine not the same?

#16 ·
do you have a dpf on your pat?
mine has one.
don't know if there are any differences engine wise.
aybe just on manifold and exhaust.

#18 ·
hope everything goes well. keep us posted.

i guess you'll be driving it in a day or two.
what actually happened?
why did it die?
and i meant to ask, whereabout in belgium are you?

Verry odd indeed.
The VW engine was one of the most important reasons why I bought the Pat.

To bad here in Belgium Jeep isn't selling that good! They even don't make ad's.
And now they aren't selling the Patriot anymore.
'Cause I'd like to change it in for a new one.
He looks better and has a stronger (diesel) engine.

i know what you mean,i bought it mine for the same reason.
the new diesel pat has the 2.2 engine from mercedes.
they have sold quite a lot of those here in romania, but my dealer told me they have frequent clutch problems.

Still no luck ...
Had to change the flywheel (near the clutch).
And the injectors cause the computer of the Jeep won't recognize the injectors of the replacement engine.

Hope it's fixed in a few days so I can put the Grabbers on it!

Not as strait forward as I thought it might be but it sounds like you're nearly there now.

Probably a good idea to change the dual mass flywheel anyway. I've heard that the springs buffering the two halves can burst out when worn causing all sorts of mayhem.

Good luck, can't be long now.
