First off I have a 2013 Jeep Patriot Sport 2.4L 4x4 CVT with 7k miles. So I have this strange sound coming from the brakes. Happens without applying the brakes. Have taken it to the dealership twice and they never hear it. Yet low and behold it happens every time I drive it. They said they have cleaned the brakes and so on but it still happens. Going to take it in for a third time and they are going to replace the brakes. Anyone have any ideas whether this could be something different besides the brakes? Please watch video below for the sound.

I had the same sound a little after buying mine, so I took off my wheel and I had a crack in my rotor, check along it make sure it's all one peice (the rotor) to the tire connector pegs, it was a hairline of a crack but was still a crack in the soild metal, if it's cracked use the warranty and get that replaced, I do have an occasional squeak when backing up though I do not know a fix for that.

Any idea if this would be covered under Lemon Law if they can't fix due to how loud it is? I I kinda read that if the problem devalues the car which I think it could. I could probably get used to it if it was not so loud but it's loud. Seems to have gotten worse after they looked at it which makes me think it should be an easy fix once they get it.

it sounds like a rotor issue to me, A warped rotor would be my guess... Have you taken the service manager out for a drive? If I ever have a "sound" that needs to be addressed. I make sure that I get the service manager's butt in the seat next to me and we go around the block a few times. That way I KNOW he heard the sound. They don't get as high of rates for warranty work, and so they don't like to address minor issues... especially if it take much diganostic time, as they are not paid for that.

If you have somebody available, go really slow down the road, with them walking next to the car (or let them drive and you walk) and see if you can determine which wheel it is coming from. That way, you can shorten their diagnostic work that much more.

I have been working with the service manager but I have not had him in the car with me. He drove it himself along with many of managers of the dealership. But they never hear it even though it's that loud. When I go back I am going to drive him around until it makes it for him. I have sent all the videos I have taken so they can hear the sound.
