I was reading a post about this guy asking how reliable these jeeps are and it got me thinking. This thing better be reliable, I want to give it to my son when he get his license. I know it’s about 15 years away, but I’m hoping for the best. It would be a good car to give to a teenager. Lots of room and not real speedy to get to crazy with. Who knows what the automobile market will be like then. Just a thought.

308 Miles and one way to go if I want to keep the convenience of this lift style.

Yes. The patriot is the perfect vehicle for the 21st century American. Buy one, buy 2, heck, get one for every driver in the house!

Glad somebody brought this up. I am very pleased to report that after being 8,000 miles old, my FD1 2.4L Patriot Sport just now managed to acheive a TANK AVERAGE of 25 miles per gallon. I can only calculate tank average because I don't have a scanguage. This is the best I have ever gotten and hopefully a sign of what's to come. I do moderate hyper-mileing but am not psycho about it. With a tank average of 25, that means I'm getting at least 30 on the highway! Woo hoo!

Letting your son have a Patriot at that age is the best thing you could ever do for a kid. Hopefully, gas won't be $80.99 dollars per gallen by then.

I see between 21 and 22 mpg every week for my work commute and it's all stop and go driving. I also do a little bit of hypermiling tricks but nothing too crazy. I run 38psi in the tires, I shift into 6 at speeds below 45mph and occasionally do the neutral roll down hills or when rolling towards a light. It's not second nature for me yet though so sometimes I forget to do any of those things...still, I'm very happy with 21-22mpg city average. I used to get 12-13mpg in my Dakota.

Total mileage on the odometer after six weeks of ownership is right about 3,100.

Lowest MPG tank so far was a hair over 26, highest was a hair over 33, during my recent road trip to Mississippi.

It will haul a LOT of beer. And when you fold the back seats down, it has plenty of room for, er... uh... snuggling. Yeah, that's it.

I've never reset the EVIC. My lifetime mileage is (right now) 11.4L/100km, which is about 21mpg. Typical for me during the warmer weather seems to be around 19.5 to 20 mpg. The best I have ever seen, after travelling for a few hours on backroads, is 10.5L/100km, or about 22.5mpg.

Typically, I drive primarily stop and go city driving. Very little highway or backroad driving.

18mpg for short 140mile stint. Three passengers loaded with gear and my 14ft aluminum
w/25hp. Average speeds 65-70 w/ac on. First road trip, infact has been on freeway twice for about 3 miles each time in just over 1K. CVT a little odd, but handling, ride and
was amazed how quiet the interior was. I wonder if wind deflector on hood helps because the prior two highway trips noticed more wind noise and a whistle that someone said goes away with the blower on. At times blower was not on and did not hear. Overall very pleased with this vehicle!
