I wouldn't say it's not American anymore... You still have to keep in mind most if not all the engineers for Jeep reside in the south east Michigan area and they magically don't turn Italian, they still are Americans, and all jeeps are still built in the states. The thing that'll most likely change is now there will be more shared platforms with Fiat (which can be a good thing, ie look at the success of the new cherokee) and shared power trains ( again not necessarily a bad thing). The thing to look out for now is exterior styling, how will Jeep go about styling its vehicles if they will be sold around the world?

Well its no longer American right off the bat due to all of the profits going to Turin and not Detroit. I wonder if soon down the road those Detroit based engineers will be replaced with ones from Turin?

LOL sorry.. That's just funny. look at all the successful cars around Chrysler's lineup, no engineers from Turin know them better or can improve upon them better than the ones here in Michigan.

You should look up Chrysler headquarters, it's a city... Literally a city of Chrysler engineering. No ones going anywhere, if anything now MORE engineers are needed now in Michigan to incorporate Fiat's designs along with the ongoing Chrysler/Daimler platforms.

Marchionne will now decide whether to locate the combined Fiat/Chrysler HQ in Turin or Auburn Hills. I'm betting on the US location.

I remember hearing talk that they were looking at basing the company listing out of the Netherlands due to favorable tax terms, but obviously the US brands HQs would stay where they are. Tax wise, the US is still a better bet than Turin.

Well, at least we can now (truthfully enough) say we drive Ferraris, right? Kinda like VW owners can say they drive Bugattis. Not the best comfort, I know, but it's still kinda fun....for me anyways.

(shudder) That well? Probly just those who don't know any better, I was hoping it'd be boycotted. Think we can convince 'em to give away a free bazooka with each one?

Surprisingly well considering all the bad press it received early when its pictures were leaked. When people ACTUALLY drive it and get to know it for what it is it's the perfect blend of off road and daily driver. I've watched and read numerous expert reviews on the Cherokee and I haven't seen one bad review. it's a great handling and comfortable jeep (which jeep is not known for in any of their vehicles).

It doesn't have a Fiajeep logo, now does it ? They dishonored the legendary Cherokee name. Should have saved that name for something better. Fiajeep sounds better cause it looks like the rest of the whatsyoumaycallit er they all look the same vehicles . Fiajeep the new AMC Eagle. The Sheeple don't know the difference. Let er rip......

dishonored? So a nice interior, more power, great driving dynamics, and a technologically advanced 4x4 system dishonors the boxy old cherokee just because it doesn't look like a boxy cherokee?

It's resemblance is to the Nissan Juke. My Patriot's comfortable and sporty, and looks more like a Cherokee than that disgrace. Hence the suggestion they give out bazookas for when folks realize what they've done. I'd take the 2011-present Compass over the Cherokar, because even though the Compass looks a bit too street savvy, it's got the guts and heart of a Patriot with the looks of a mini Grand Cherokee. I wonder how to convince Fiat to take the new menace back to the drawing board(or withdraw it altogether)?
